Matthews POV
Anger. No, fury. Fury, relief, and guilt filled me. After my morning classes, I walked down to the library to meet up with Reid for study hall only to see him hunched over on a beanbag with a bandaged face and an ice pack. When he finally told me what happened after forcing it out of him, those were the emotions I felt. Guilt for not being there for him although I wasn't there. Relief since jade had helped him and Jackson also helped a bit. Fury however, for the fact that if Jade has kept her legs shut, Reid wouldn't had gotten hurt. For the past five minutes I've been trying to convince Reid to start putting distance between Jade and himself while he tried to convince me otherwise.
"Matt, it wasn't Jade's fault this happened to me. I was at the wrong place at the wrong time." He tried to reason with me as he repositions himself and the ice pack on his abdomen over what I now know is Jackson's shirt.
"It is her fault Reid! If she wasn't so busy being a slut then this wouldn't have fucking happened to you!" I stubbornly argue.
Reid's eyes widened at my choice of 'inappropriate language' before I saw them glance behind me and his face paled. I looked at him confused before turning around, feeling my face pale slightly when I did.
Jade stood behind me, an ice pack in hand. I watched as she refused to meet my eyes and rolled her bottom lip between her teeth before she walked around me and to Reid. Taking the melted ice pack from him and replacing it with the new.
"J-Jade..." Reid whimpered causing my gaze to fall on him. His eyes glossed over with tears as he moves a hand out to her face. I couldn't see her face as now her back was to me, but I saw her shake her head as she moved away and looked down.
"I'm fine Reid. Everyone knows I'm a slut anyways." Jade muttered before she glanced back at me, "Don't worry, I'll keep my legs closed next time."
I heard her voice waver when she said that, but her expression was stone now. She started to walk past me when Reid stopped her.
"He didn't mean it Jade." Making my head snap at his direction, "This is all a misunderstanding and we all know it. Why... why don't we all go to lunch together and talk about this?"
By then my eyes narrowed as I focused on Reid, "How do we even know if she has a lunch period with us?" As I glance at Jade who was now using her hair to hide from my gaze.
"Well... do you?" Reid asked hopefully.
What does he have hope for?! This is her fault.
Jade nods, "I do, but I normally spend it with Jack."
"Probably whoring around with him." I mutter.
Her head snaps in my direction and I was shocked that it didn't break. For a second I saw hurt in her eyes before they stoned. "I'll see you at lunch Reid." She says, but keeps her eyes locked with mine. I rolled mine as she finally walks past me and away from us.
When she finally left Reid looked at me with the look of disappointment.
"What's up with you?" Confusion in my tone.
He scoffs, "Matthew you're the nicest person I know. How could you say that to her? I told you before and I'll tell you again. This wasn't her fault!"
"Why do you keep protecting her?"
"Because she's my friend! I want to be friends with her Matt and I know you do too... just calm down so we can have a civil lunch." His voice begging as I rolled my eyes, "Please?"
"Fine." I mutter, "but if this happens again, we stop talking to her. Okay?"
He nods rapidly, "Okay Matt."
