Tower Battle

(Reader's P.O.V.)

Sonic went ahead of us so he could be on the front lines with the rest of the resistance. Infinite went off somewhere to wait for the Phantom Ruby. Me? I was somewhere far from the front line staring at a tower. Off in the distance, I see a bright light burst in the sky. Is that... the sun? Suddenly my radio goes off, "(Y/N) can you hear me? The Phantom Ruby is pulling out stops again. With this phantom sun, none of us are going to live long enough to take him down. But there's still a way to stop it. Remember our first fight, when you pulled out that prototype? Use it to stop the sun. Don't worry I'll be with you the whole way. I won't let anything happen to you." As soon as my radio shuts off, Tails flies over to me. He takes notice of the glowing prototype in my hand. "Look. It's reacting. Eggman said something about the Phantom Ruby prototypes. Let me see." I hand it to him and it stops glowing. "Whoa, it is. He said that the Phantom Ruby prototypes only react to the person who has activated it. That must be you, buddy! Your courage and heroism are probably what triggered it. Just maybe, if you use this, it can make that sun disappear." He hands it back to me and I turn to the tower. Zero promised he'd be with me the whole way. Just maybe if I do this I can save everyone.

(Phantom's P.O.V.)

    I look around at the various insects unable to find my wild (C/T). I hear the sound of a zip wire attaching to a tower a short distance away from me. Found her.

(Reader's P.O.V.)

    I climb up the tower with Zero keeping the enemy off my tail. As I climb up I get greeted by an unexpected guest. "Jewel... You don't need to do this. I can make it so my illusion doesn't touch you." "Even if you do that it won't change the fact that my friends will still die. I can't just let you do what you want." I pull myself higher, the Phantom Ruby following after me. "Let me save you. You don't need them, you don't need him. You only need me." I ignore him again climbing higher and higher. Avoiding lasers as I go up. Finally, I reach the top of the tower. A hand pulls me back. "You have no idea what you're doing (Y/N)... They can't give you what I can." I pull away from him and launch myself towards the phantom sun, shattering its illusion. I won't be tricked that easily again.
