Ebony opened her eyes, groaning in pain as she tries to ease her sore limbs into working, she noticed that this time she was alone and instead of sweating her metaphorical nuts off on the floor where she last remembered herself to be, she was lying on her comfy mattress. "maybe Adalaide has a maid or butler or something to help me she's been around long enough to have the money for one" thinking nothing more of it. She lifted her arms up in a stretch wincing at the pain, then sniffed. She smelt ripe, winkling her nose in disgust at herself. If there was one thing that Ebony hated most, it was sweaty people or just people in general. This is why she preferred winter where everyone was cold and you never had to share the public transport with overweight middle-aged men with beer bellies, a five o'clock shadow and armpit sweat patches as big as London. Ebony made to get out of bed, and once again for the second time that day, ended up faceplanting the floor as her wobbly legs gave up beneath her. Winters growled in annoyance at herself at her clumsiness, rubbing her sore nose, set off once again for the shower, trying the door nearest her first, and thanking the god or gods that she didn't have to walk far on her throbbing legs. "I think I'm going to have a sit-down shower, I'm not too sure how long I'm going to be able to stand, I've never felt such pain before that was unreal." The bathroom was spacious and modern. Inside was a standalone shower with all the bells and whistles of a state-of-the-art shower. The bathtub was sleek and modern, the taps and clawed feet of the bathtub were silver. The hot and cold taps had an initial engraved into it as well as their co-ordinating colours.
She shut the door behind her, peeled off her sweat caked clothes, turned on the shower, set it to the right temperature for her then stepped in and sat down. Letting out a sigh of relief and contentment, enjoying the feeling of the hot water droplets hit the top of her head in a rhythmic pattern. Ebony had always liked patterns, they helped her feel safe, and at a time like this they were comforting more than ever. She had never felt so unsure of what her life may bring and that scared her. She lived by a plan and to not have one was throwing her out of whack. Adalaide had come into her life and in little under 24 hours "I think" she had managed to flip her world inside out and upside down and Ebony wasn't sure how she felt about it.
Finally feeling her body relaxing under the hot water she stood up slowly holding on to the wall for balance slightly, turned off the water and then froze. How could she have been so stupid. She had not pick up a towel or any spare clothes to get changed into! "Crap Crap Crap! What am I gonna do?" she was starting to get cold so she did the only thing she could think of which was to call for the only person she knew might be in the house.
"Er.. Miss Hemmingway?" she shouted as politely as she could, and then jumped when she heard a voice from the other side of the door seconds later. "What is it?" "how the hell did she get here so fast? Oh. Right. Yeah. Vampire duh that was stupid"
"I-I don't have any towels" she silently cursed herself for stuttering
A stern voice followed her statement "What did you call me for? I'm an important person not your personal slave. Get a maid to bring you one!" a string of curse words started slowly getting quieter as Adalaide moved further into the house when a sudden "MAID" rumbled the walls around Ebony. "Holy shit who pissed in her cherrios? I only asked a question". There was a soft knock at the door "Miss Winters I have your towel. I also assumed that you also did not pick up any clothes, so I bought some with me too. Am I alright to come in?" a meek little voice said from behind the bathroom door.
"Yes of course hang on" Ebony unlocked the door and then quickly scooted back and tried to hide her body as best she could before the maid came in. The maid was of short stature, coming to just under Ebony's chin, her hair was blonde and out into a tight bun at the back of her head, and she was wearing the stereotypical maids outfit, however the chest area was designed to bring attention to the maids chest and the skirt was short enough that it came just below her buttocks the maid was kind enough to have shut her eyes and hold out the towel for her, which she gratefully took from her and wrapped it around her body.
"Thank you. Miss.."
"Layla, Miss. Layla Adams. But please call me Layla. I will be your personal maid for your stay here with Miss Hemmingway. So please let me know if there is anything you need, I shall leave your clothes on the toilet seat." She curtsied, and quickly left. On the toilet seat were her clothes which consisted of her boxers from home (labelled with the days of the week. Ebony noted that if they had given her the right day it was now Saturday), a pair of black ripped skinny jeans, a t-shirt with her favourite film on the front "The Rocky Horror Show" "Tim Curry in drag makes me question my lesbian sexuality I swear to god" with a red and black checkered flannel over the top, as well as a bra and her favourite pair of socks with planets and stars on them.
Finally, dressed and ready to go, Ebony stepped out of the bathroom, only to almost jump a mile when she very nearly walked straight into the Lady of the house herself.
"Nice socks Winters." Adaliade said while smirking. Ebony blushed and cleared her throat "Is there something I can help you with Miss Hemmingway?" she asked politely
"Yes actually, there is. Come with me" she quickly turned around and headed toward the other door that Ebony had seen on her adventures to the bathroom. Ebony quickly dumped her wet towel on the bed and followed after her. She noted that Adalaide was looking especially formidable in a dark navy suit jacket and trousers and a white buttoned up smart shirt, blood red tie and heels to match.
"May I ask where we are going?"
"You may." She replied
Winter rolled her eyes at her response. Adalaide looked back at her sharply as if knowing that she had rolled her eyes.
"Well, where are we going?"
Adalaide faced forward once again, retorting with;
"The Vampire Council of Elders of course"
