Chapter 2
Pulling into the empty driveway of Ebony's and her mother's house, Ebony sighs, another late night at office means that her mother won't make it home until very late, which means another night on her own, normally she wouldn't mind but today was supposed to be special.
It was her birthday
But as Ebony pulled her house keys from her jeans pockets and pushes them into the lock, she comes to realise that with her parents' divorce, she didn't just lose one parent, she lost them both. Maybe not physically but her mother has not been the same ever since. She sighs again and steps into the house, flicking on the lights for the hallway and shutting the door, feeling a slight gust of wind before she does, however she thinks nothing of it, assuming it is just the wind. Dropping her bag by the front door and kicking off her shoes, she plods to the living room, her arms above her head in a stretch and yawning. She flicks on the light switch and screams.
