I grabbed my books for science and started walking to my classroom, which was all the way on the other side of campus, so I needed to hurry. Where the fuck was Ricki? Is she even okay? I kept walking and so did everyone else. By the time I got half way there was no one anywhere. The whole school was completely empty. It was kind of scary actually, the place where you see people everywhere, I now don't see anyone. I knew I was already going to be late, so I took my time and watched as the breeze made leaves fly above the ground and birds tried to fly against the wind but the wind was just too strong and the birds were forced to fly with the direction of the wind. I wish I was a bird, I would be so free. I walked down the hall and I could see someone standing outside of my classroom, at first I assumed it was my teacher Ms. Christian. But as I waked closer I knew exactly who it was.
"Johno!" I screamed running towards him.
His smile grew wider and he opened his big arms to catch me as I jumped and he engulfed my hole body. Swinging me around in circles because the force of me running was quite big.
He then put me down. And I knew exactly why he was here. We were going to wag.
We didn't have to say anything after that because we both just read each other's minds.
He grabbed my hand and looked at me and nodded.
I nodded back.
And we started running all the way down the hall.
We both started laughing and screaming. Still holding hands.
He obviously didn't have a care in the world. He was free.
He squeezed my hand. I wanted to be free too.
I threw my books and papers up in the air. Science isn't that important anyway. The papers danced around us as we ran out the door.
Now we were both free. Just like a bird.
He guided me to the front of the school. And then he stopped and I stopped too.
I couldn't really breathe because I just sprinted like 1 kilometre, but I looked at Johno and he wasn't even puffed. So I pretended I wasn't either.
We started walking down the long road and neither or us said anything.
But it wasn't the awkward silence it was a comfortable silence.
I just loved being in his presence because everything was perfect. We didn't need to have full on conversations all the time because when it was silent it was almost like we could read each other's minds. I knew exactly what he was thinking and trying to say with just a look.
He squeezed my hand and I looked up at him.
He then pointed ahead.
I gave him a big cheesy smile and he just laughed at me.
