"Walking through the halls for a few minutes felt like hours for some students."
"I guess that makes us the lucky ones, doesnt it?" Nate joked as this friend would give a nervous laugh. They both knew only few kids actually got through the end of the day with all thier valuables. 1 Rule everyone found out the hard way was to never talk back to the 'Jock Straps'. First there was Chris. He was leader of they're squad, and would beat you up daily until you finally gave in to his wishes. Then theres Daniel, whos was more of the blackmail sorta person. He would act all 'buddy buddy' and when you turn your back for a few seconds- everyone would know your secrets. Finally, theres Danny. Danny is probley the dumbest of them all! Danny usally is there to help with the torcher, and is always trying to to prove himself, even though it often leads him to get hurt by the gang its self. Nobody dared to say their real name, unless they were asking for a fight. As long as you didnt look them in the eye you were safe. Both boys feared them, and they would dash past them to the exit while they would pick on their current victum.
"So hows things going on with Sapphire?"
"To tell ya the truth, I gotta date with her tonight at the movies at 7."
"Nicely done Jackson!" Nate would nudge him on his shoulder as they started to walk home. Nathen and Jackson were paracticly brothers despite being nothing alike. Nathen was more of the social, funny, smart guy with semi pale skin, brown hair, and autumn eyes. Jackson however, was a track star! Hes more into designing objects and reading, and could probley talk himself outta any situation! He has tan skin and dark brown hair that makes him looks like something that came out of a movie, and he almost always wears a cap. Walking into the house, the boys ran upstairs past their parents arguing again and, into their bedroom. It was a small area, with 2 mattresses, a lantern, and a low enough celling to make you have to crawl around. Both boys put their bag down as Jackson turned on the lantern.
"What are the chances that mom and dad are still gonna be arguing by the time you get back from the movies?"
"Its probley 100%." Jackson sighed. Nathan was still considered 'new' since he had only moved in a few weeks ago. His family would always be moving around to different parts of the world to work, so he never really got to see them alot, but they still would send the family money. Jackson looked at his watch and began to stuff some of his money in his pockets.
"Hope you guys have a great time!" Nathen smiled. Jackson gave a smirk and he climbed down from the room, "Thanks Nate!". Nathan would wave bye as he assended down the ladder and outta sight. His phone would begin to light up, as Nathen went over to get his note pad. "Whats this all about?" Nathan though as he began to read.
Your invited onto the field trip tommorrow. Be sure to bring a lunch, and spare change incase you want to buy anything! Your tickets are down below! Nathan scrolled down to see 2 tickets for him and Jackson. Nathen smiled looking down at the tickets but was taken back when Jackson came back to the room still holding the movie tickets and his eyes looking glossy.
"I take it that it didnt go so well?" "Sapphire and I arent gonna be seeing eachother for awhile." Jackson sighed.
"Well, I think this might cheer you up!" Nathan scrolled down on his phone to show him the tickets. Jackson smiled,
"Well atleast theres that!".
"You kids better be asleep!" Came a yell from downstairs. The boys looked at eachother for a breif moment, and turned off the lantern and squirmed into bed.
"Night Jack."
"Night Nate."
The next morning was a rush out the door. Jackson grabed money, while Nathan stuffed his bag with food and ran out the door to school. Jackson would slam the door open as the teachers would be assigning groups.
"Oh uh Jackson! Your in this group over here." The teacher would be pointing towards a group near the side.
"And Nathan, your over here." He pointed towards another group with the 'Jock Straps' giving a sickening smirk.
"Wait!" Jackson yelled. The room got quiet as everyone turned to look at him.
"Nathan has to be with me cause-"
"Who are you to make that decision!" Chris interrupted.
"Pardon me, but I believe I was the one who was talking!" Everyone was shocked. Chris's began to crack his neck, and his expression turned sour. "As I was saying Nathan has uh, ashtema!". Everyone turned to look at Nathan as he started to nod in agreement.
"Why hasnt he mentioned this before?" The stares went back to Jackson.
"Because he was to nervous to admit it!" Jackson blurted out giving a noding glance to Nathan.
"Sorry for not telling you sooner." Nathan played along.
"Well in that case why dont you just go in his group. We need more people in there anyway!" Jacksons heart dropped as the Chris started to give the widest grin as Jackson stepped over into the group. "Alright class, move out into your busses and ill see you all at the museum!" The teacher would walk out as the rest of the class ran out the door. "Thanks for not leaving me alone with those phycos!" Nathan sighed. "No bro left behind!" Jackson smiled as they started to walk onto the bus. Paper balls would be thrown from all different parts on the bus, and Nathan could've swore he had more snacks by the time they got off the bus and into the museum. "Alright kids, lunch will be held at the cafeteria on the second floor! Now go knock yourselves out!" The teacher yelled as students scramed in every direction. "So what would you like to do first, Nate?" "Uh, how bout the underwater exhibit?" "Underwater exhibit it is!" Jackson replied grabbing a map from a slot in the wall. Pulling it out, the boys started to walk towards the rooms direction. "Ok it should just be around this corner-" Jackson would have lost his breath after getting dragged around a corner. "Still think you could get away with that little lie you played?" Jackson would look up to see all the "Jock Straps" surrounding him. "Hey let him go would yeah!" Nathan yelled out. Daniel would push Nathan down. "What do you want anyway?" "Well look at this guy trying to be brave!" "Hey! Im brave!" Jackson yelled back. "Oh yeah tough guy? Prove it!" Chris pointed to a door with an unauthorised entery sign on it. Jackson gulped as he slowly approached the door. The rest of the boys chuckled as he open and pushed him aside once he steped inside. Nathan ran over to help his friend but stood baffled. In front of them was a giant machine, with an arch way in the center and a control panel was attached to the side. There were 4 huge lights on the top center, all in different colors. In fact, looking more into it, the machine didnt even look like it was a month old! "Lame!" Groaned Chirs. "I thought it was gonna be something cool like aliens or a weapons section!" "What about this do you not find cool! Its awesome!" Nathan cheered as he ran up looking at it some more. "I think your just to spoiled to see what real people could by themselves!" Jackson replied getting up and walking over to the machine. "Oh yeah shrimp! Here catch!" Chris grabbed a hammer from the counter and threw it towards them. Both boys ducked and the hammer flew into the control pannel and malfunctioning the machine. The boys back up in horror as the machine turned on blowing everything into it. "Forget this! Lets get outta here!" Daniel yelled as the Jock Straps ran out the door. The boys started to run towards the door but right as Jackson reached the door he heard a thud hit the floor, and Nathan yelling for help. He turned around to see Nathan holding on to the edge of the portal, and Jackson immediately reached out to him with one hand holding on to the door. Nathan reached out and grabed him but Jacksons hand would slip, and they both crashed into the portal blacking out. Waking up hours later, Jackson could feel something warm touching him. It was small, and felt like the weight of a cotton ball. Jackson sat up and turned around to his friend. "Where are we?" Nathan mumbled. "It looks like some sorta cave?" Jackson replied. Jackson started to stand up and walk around. The area was dark with glowing mushrooms in all kinds of colors! Reds, blues, greens, pinks, yellows, purples, and so on. Glowing butterfly creatures were also illuminating the darkness, and they were what also woke up Nathan and Jackson. The boys wandered around a bit before coming to some vines by the caves wall. Nathan pushed them aside and stood there. "Jack, you may wanna see this!" Jackson walked over and pushed aside another set of vines. "What is that?" Nathan gasped. "I dont know Nate, but whatever it is, were definitely not home anymore."
