WOW PANY IS STILL ALIVE!
I know, I know, I am sooooo sorry for disappearing for the last couple of months but I had to focus on other projects and some personal stuff happened as well, but I'll try to update this story as quickly as possible because I want to share other stories (the Jrs story (yes, the real deal) and the Copies!AU (if you have no idea of what I am talking about, you can check my Instagram and see a couple of arts I did about it)) but I know that if I start to focus on them I'll forget about this one, so I gotta finish this before anything else.
So, I'm just here to ask some patience but believe me when I say that I'll do my best to update this story lol
Peggy walked back and forth in front of the circus entrance, completely lost in thought by what was just said to her. That the two people she loved more in the entire world were not her real family and her biological parents in fact sent her away without thinking twice. She hated that feeling, of denying the truth. She always noticed how different she looked from them. For God's sake, she had dark skin while both of them had lighter skin tones, her "father" even had reddish hair while her "mother" at least had curly hair like hers, but both always told her many of their relatives were black and Peggy believed in them without questioning. But now one question hunted her.
"Why they never told me?..." She whispered and was in deep thought for a moment before snickering, "It's not like that matter anymore" They were dead, she couldn't demand them to answer now. Still, she still loved them. Why wouldn't she? They cared for her while her true parents didn't, but she wished they had told her.
She sighed deeply with both hands in her hips before a hand landed on her shoulder. Eliza smiled at the younger girl and softly said, "Hey. I heard what happened. Are you ok?"
"Ahm... I just found out the only family I ever knew was not my real family"
"Bullshit! Don't say such a thing!" Both of them turned and Angelica walked in their conversation, "How can you say they weren't your real family? They took care of you for all those years; that is what a family do. It doesn't need to have blood blonds"
"I know and I love them for it, but-"
"Na-ãh" Angelica raised a finger and Peggy shut her mouth, "They didn't want you believe you were unwanted. By what Rose told us her... Your parents were extremely poor and she went through a lot because of that. They gave you away so someone could take good care of you, which they did, right?" Peggy nodded and Angelica raise an eyebrow while she pointed to the theater, "So now can you just go inside and try to meet your sister properly?"
"Yes, sir" Peggy mocked and the trio giggled as she walked inside.
"We'll be here if you need to talk!" Eliza shouted before Peggy passed through the doors, "Yea... I never imagined the first circus' anniversary would come with so much drama"
Angelica crossed her arms and chuckled, "Liza, we literally work on a freak show with a cast that came from a lot of dysfunctional families. Drama is the least you could expect"
Both women giggled before walked in as well, not noticing the shocked man that stared at them. He ran across the street, almost being hit by a car and was yelled at, but he didn't hear it at all. He looked up and saw the gigantic colorful posters hanging from the top of the building.
"Hamilton's circus" He read aloud, "How could I be so stupid..." Then rushed to buy a ticket for the next presentation.
...
Rose was finally left alone at one of the private cabins and breathed aloud. She wasn't used to be the center of attention, very much the opposite, she was used to be invisible. She ran her fingers through her hair, her bangs leaving her face only for a few seconds before covering her eyes again when someone said, "Knock, knock" She turned around in time to see Peggy pushing a gap through the fabric to walk in, "Hey"
The girl quietly replied, "Hello"
"So... I'm sorry for how I reacted or- Not. Reacted" Peggy seemed to be analyzing what she just said and shook her head, "Anyway, I am just here to say sorry for that"
Rose slightly smiled and shook her head softly, "It's fine, I... I didn't know you didn't know about that... Sorry"
"Hey, at least now I know" She said shrugging her shoulders and an awkward silence fell in the place before Peggy pursed her lips and extended her hand, "Let's meet properly this time. Hi, I am Margarita Smith"
Rose smiled and opened her mouth but hesitated for a second, her actual name almost slipping and already feeling bad for having to lie to her sister but said the name James came up with, "Rosemary Carmichael"
They shook hands and Peggy said, "Carmichael, really? Such a pompous name"
Rose chuckled, "Believe me, I didn't choose it"
