Keeping both their secrets despite their feelings was hard. Especially since Wendy saw both of them everyday. She asked Seulgi if she should change her internship, but Seulgi declined, saying her personal issues shouldn't bother her friend's work life.
As her tummy grew bigger, Seulgi started getting sick just from the thought of food. She could barely eat much, and survived on fruits, rice and healthy dishes Wendy would cook. Nothing spicy or too flavourful. Seulgi hated it so much, but remembered that it was all for a good cause. She would use the hearing device every hour when home alone, just to hear the babies since it made her feel accompanied.
And when finding out the gender, she was ecstatic. Having twin girls felt so magical to her. She took Wendy out shopping, making sure to buy as many nice clothes she could at least afford, and set aside money for their future needs as well. Since becoming alone, she had to make sure she had enough and kept a budget, and also tried to not borrow money from people since she didn't know if she could ever pay them back.
Throughout all this, Wendy felt the most guilty. She was hiding from Taeyong that he was already becoming a father, and hiding from Seulgi the fact that she was helping with his wedding arrangements. With so much going on, she was probably the most stressed in this situation, and one day decided she needed a break from all this. She called her own boyfriend to meet up, wanting nothing more than someone to talk to about all this.
Wendy and Taeil had been together for a year. Before dating, he was her student counsellor, helping her decide what to do with her life and which career she would take. They clicked when Taeil suddenly confessed, and were a cute couple according to Seulgi. But unlike Seulgi and Taeyong, they limited their relationship, not wanting to take things too far quickly.
Taeil drove them to their favourite restaurant, and they sat close to each other in the private booths. Wendy was so tired she didn't even want to order, so he did it for her. Once the waitress left, he turned to her, and pushed her head to lean on his shoulder.
"What's wrong? You usually don't skip ordering..." he spoke softly, kissing her hair. Wendy sighed and hugged his torso, both his arms now around her as they cuddled.
"I just have too much going on. I can't take it anymore."
"What happened?"
Wendy looked up at him, her chin on his chest. "Seulgi's pregnant. The day she went to tell Taeyong the news, he suddenly broke up, before she could even speak."
"What?" he furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
"I know right. He didn't say why, he just left her at the café. She's living with me now because her parents wanted her to start living by herself. They were upset, but they decided not to take drastic measures. But, she was originally moving with Taeyong. Since that didn't happen, she felt ashamed, so she lives with me instead."
"Did her parents cut ties?"
"No. They were just really upset, so her dad told her since she's old enough and wants to take responsibility herself, she should move out. He basically wants her to learn I guess."
Taeil pouted and nodded his head unsure, and pet her hair. The waitress brought in their drinks, so Wendy went quiet until she left. She took a sip of her lemon mint drink, then continued.
"One things for sure, we all knew something was wrong with Taeyong, but we kept quiet... But that day, while I was working, I found out the truth. Taeyong never wanted to break up, and I could already tell by his condition. He looks... so... horrible."
Wendy explained the whole backstory of Taeyong's issue, Taeil getting more and more shocked at every sentence. By the time she finished, their food had arrived, so they decided to eat first. They took the time eating to think about themselves instead, feeding each other, or Taeil just flirting with her. Wendy cringed every time, but he never failed to make her laugh.
And she forgot completely about the problems, so she felt relieved for a while. After lunch they went for a walk around the neighbourhood, Wendy's hands wrapped tightly around Taeil's arm. At one point, she suddenly slowed down, and he turned to see her eyes on something. He followed them to the shop they stood opposite to, a smile creeping into his face. He grabbed her hand and pulled her in, Wendy following behind unknowingly.
"Excuse me, we'd like to adopt a puppy."
Wendy's eyes widened at Taeil's request to the cashier. She tugged his arm calling him, but he simply smiled and followed the man to the puppies. He looked around and saw a corner with the new borns, immediately making his way there and picking up a golden retriever. He took it to Wendy, and carefully transferred it to her arms as if carrying a baby.
Wendy looked at the puppy snuggling up in her arms, and automatically smiled brightly. Taeil felt happy seeing her happy, and called the man right away.
"We'll take this one please. I'll sign the papers now."
Wendy looked at him shocked. "Taeil, bu-"
"No buts. I saw how you always wanted a puppy, so, let's raise her ourselves."
The man came and took the puppy from her arms to check it out, getting the adoption papers ready. Wendy held Taeil's hand to talk to him.
"But... I have Seulgi with me. I don't think I can watch over the puppy..."
"Well..." Taeil suddenly scratched his head nervously. "I actually wanted to ask you something... But with what's going on around you, maybe I'll wait on it." he sighed a little disappointed.
"What is it?"
"Well, I was hoping you'd move in with me." he said holding both her hands. Wendy's mount went agape, and he chuckled kissing her top lip which made her close it again. "I wanted to ask you. We've been together for a while, so maybe it would have been a good idea. We won't go that far, I promise, but just move in with me, so I always have you by my side. But..."
"Taeil, I- I have to watch Seulgi..."
Taeil sighed again looking down. "I know Wendy. But, just think about it. Your life matters too, you can't give up everything for her while she faces the consequences of her actions. I understand there's a huge issue between them, and she's pregnant, and she's like your sister. But I want you to live your life as well, for us to be together."
