Chapter Seventeen

I tried to stay calm as my eyes met Lino's.

"Hey baby, everything's checked out. Olivia got my men at the club already, Fabio and Lola's waiting in the car."

I sit on the bed, dressed and ready. "What about Olivia?"

"She's already there", he says.

I muster up the best smile I can, he stands over me and leans down to kiss me. He looks softly in my eyes.

"I know you've been through a lot these past days. I'll take care of this okay? Don't worry", he says kissing my forehead.

I hug him, tightly, praying he'll forgive me.

11:55pm

The club is going on, the party is in full effect and Fabio and I are in the VIP room while Olivia and Lino talk.

"What's up with you, you've been on edge all night and I know it's not because of tonight. I watched you feed a man to sharks, it's something else", Fabio says, looking intently at me.

I sigh and turn to him.

"I'm just not having a good night",

He scoffs, "My spidey senses know better than that",

"We're not even friends, what do you care",

He purses his lips and crosses his arms, "What is up Catalina?"

I look at him, should I really tell him... I mean he could help me.

"Olivia wants me to steal Lino's mother's necklace to sell to the same cop who agreed to leave us alone if she paid him".

I see his brown eyes shift to behind me, then back at me. His eyes now laced with anger and suspicion.

"What did you say?"

"I have to do it", I say bowing my head.

He laughs dryly. "Are you trying to get killed?"

I glare at him, getting annoyed.

"She blackmailed me! Don't you get that?! Do you honestly think I would do something like that to Lola or Lino?" I hiss at him.

His features soften a little. "What does she have on you?"

"Lino's life...and Lola's".

An expression flashes across his face but before I could read it, his face is once again unreadable. "She had the guys killed. If Lino knew, she said she'll kill them. Fabio, I can't lose anyone else right now", I say in a whisper.

He looks at me thoughtfully.

"I'll help you", he says.

"How?"

"After you get the necklace, I'll explain to him. He'll hate you before he finds out Catalina."

"Oh my God"

"I got you"

We try to go back to looking normal, looking over at a quiet Lola staring at her phone.

"You should work things out with Lola. She needs you right now"

He sighs sadly, looking over at her - love etched in his eyes.
"I'll try".

"What are you two talking about over here?" Olivia asks walking over with Lino, smiling pointedly at me.

I keep my eyes on Lino and stand to kiss his cheek.

"I missed you, do you wanna go somewhere and talk?"

I have to tell him. He'll know what to do and what roads to take
