Chapter Twenty-Nine

The room buzzed with excited chatter and children ran between the tables in a good-natured game of tag while some pop song played in the stereo. Then the bride and groom entered, applause spread across the room. There was the scraping of chairs as folks got up for a standing ovation and the happy couple made their way to the head table, smiling and holding hands. They sat in front of a bouquet of baby pink roses and the groom leaned in for a kiss. There were cheers and someone whooped. After a few moments the toastmaster rose from his chair and everyone else sat down. The sound of his teaspoon rapping on the side of his wineglass signaled everyone to silence, except the children who were shushed by their parents.

After the speech, Catalina clapped and Lino draped his hand around her, lovingly. She smiled at the gesture and continued paying attention until the speeches were finished and everyone got up to go dance or chat.

He watched her get up and go talk to Lola. He was admiring how much more beautiful and happy she'd gotten. There were pros and cons developing in his woman beside the twins. She was smiling more, her skin looked like it was glowing, pregnancy gave her amazing full breasts to play with and grope, she was unusually aggressive in bed - he didn't exactly have an issue with it he just preferred when she was ...nicer and more submissive as he enjoyed being the aggressive.

The cons, she was moody, crying for everything, she always picked fights over petty things that ended up getting him annoyed. He walks on egg shells with everything he says afraid that she'll take it the wrong way and start crying or much worse...turn into an angry Spanish-speaking beast and then she'll realize that she's overreacting and pity herself. She's sooo bipolar but it's worth it because at the end of the day she finds herself snuggled up under him and he finds himself satisfied with his hormonal fiance.

The photographer came over and handed me a photo. "Just some pics from tonight sir, I'm leaving now", he says. Lino takes them and smiles when he sees the first one.

Catalina's POV

Lola and I drink some non-alcoholic champagne as we sit by the table. Nate is laughing and talking with Carlisle and some other guys. Others are gathered around the room as the music plays.

"Look at us, who would've thought we'd be here. At my wedding, with my daughter here in my lap and you pregnant with twins for Lino - who I should say is about to be your husband!" She enthuses.

"If you told me he was going to be the love of my life and the father of my unborn twins two years ago, I wouldn't believe you", I say laughing. She joins me and takes another drink.

"Cheers to Mera for getting us safe champagne that tastes like alcohol or we'd be stuck on water", she says with a grin. I giggle and raise my glass to click hers. "Cheers to that!"

We both drink and her daughter threatens to spill her drink.

"Isabella, don't do that", she says in Spanish. Her little daughter giggles and her brown eyes flicker somewhere else around the room.

Just then, I spot Lino stalking over to the group of guys with a drink in his hand. His black tuxedo fitting him just right, sending sparks down to my underwear. I pressed my legs together and took another sip of champagne. The music stopped and switched to a more sensual song.

Everyone partners up and Nate waltz over smiling down at her. She grins at him and she puts down her drink and stands securing the baby in her hands but Mera comes over.

"I got her. You ladies enjoy the dance", Mera says taking the baby. We exchange a smile and she pats my shoulder.

"You're doing okay Lina?"
"Yeah, but my hormones are just acting up again"
