These are the words I held back,
as I was leaving too soon
I was enchanted to meet you
Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you

Gilbert stood in his own kitchen as he chopped some green apples to eat as Bash fed his small daughter. He chopped down fiercely, a confused frown on his face as a million thoughts raced around his mind. "Dashing...white...sergeant!" he muttered under his breath, sighing as he popped a piece of apple into his mouth. Bash looked up amused, lifting up the spoon and feeding Delphine. "What has this white sergeant done to offend you so much?"

"It's just...dancing is not my preferred way to spend an afternoon, that's all." Bash looked up at him, a mocking smile on his face as Gilbert put down the knife, cleaning up. "What, would have you preferred to have some alone time with Amelia so you could play kissy kissy guess who I'm in love with but I won't admit it?" mocked Bash, laughing brightly at the look on Gilbert's face as he shook his head, choosing to ignore Bash's comment.

"I just don't understand it." Bash saw the conflicted look on Gilbert's face and paused what he was doing as he sat back. "What's not to understand?"

"If I..." he paused, biting his lip as images of Amelia flickered through his mind. The day he first saw her. The day at the lake when he swam after her. How they used to pass notes secretly in class. She had helped him with his father's death. When they fought over him leaving. The letters they sent each other while he was away. Their reunion when he came back. Christmas night. Her constant support towards him. They had their ups and downs, but honestly, he didn't see him doing it with anyone else.

"If I feel something, for a...girl, does that mean..." he gulped, avoiding Bash's curious gaze. "she's the one I should marry?" Bash chuckled softly, scratching his head. "Not necessarily, Blythe." he paused as Gilbert frowned confused. "Attraction, yes, it's important. But love...that's what truly matters. And love is bigger, than those...feelings, you're talking about." Gilbert slowly nodded. "You know what I mean?"

"I think so." he muttered, and sighed, licking his lips. He couldn't through everything away if he wasn't sure he loved Amelia in that particularly way. I mean, sure, he was falling for her, he had been for a while now and those feelings hadn't disappeared, but would he marry her? He did want to spend the rest of his life next to hers, but it would be fine as friends. Would it?

"So...am I going to be surprised by who this girl is that you have feelings for?" Bash nudged Gilbert as he wiggled his eyebrows, smirking, as he talked about Amelia and how everyone knew there was chemistry between them. Gilbert blushed softly, smiling as he rolled his eyes, avoiding Bash's gaze. "Shut up."
