Can there be a day beyond this night?
I don't know anymore what is true
I can't find my direction, I'm all alone
The only star that guided me was you

Amelia cooed at the baby she held in her arms, rocking it softly as she sang a sweet lullaby under her breath, watching as the young infant slowly closed her eyelids, drifting off to a deep sleep. Delphine had a soft spot in Amelia's heart, and whenever she could she would head to the Blythe's house to babysit, and let Bash and Mary have some alone time, as her and Gilbert would catch up, and have some alone time themselves.

She smiled softly at the only Blythe when he handed her a cup of coffee, the strong smell luring Amelia in as she sipped the hot drink, putting Delphine down in her cot, the baby not waking from her sleep as she gripped on the blanket. Amelia slumped over the chair, fairly tired, seeing as the night before she had helped the other girls plan Anne's surprise birthday party and they did an all-nighter. Gilbert took a seat in front of her, glancing at the pages of the daily Avonlea newspaper. "Any interesting news?" asked Amelia, starting conversation.

"Nothing, really. Just things about crops, and whatever is in fashion." he shrugged, not really taking interest in those kind of things. He peered over the paper, catching Amelia staring and grinning at her as she returned the gesture, taking another sip at the hot drink, hissing when she burnt her tongue. He folded the newspaper once he was done with it, flicking over the letters Bash had picked up for him this morning, not seeing anything of interest or importance. "Any plans today?" he asked curiously, in his head repeating what he planned to ask her.

"Yeah, it's Anne's birthday party today, the one I was working last night." Amelia looked up at him when he didn't answer, not catching the look of disappointment. "I thought I told you?" Gilbert nodded, muttering. "Yeah, just forgot." Amelia nodded, frowning at the strange behaviour from her best friend. "You okay?"

Gilbert's head snapped up, not expecting the question. "Y-yeah." he paused, stuttering over his own mouth. "Why wouldn't I be?" Amelia shrugged, taking a look at the clock on the wall behind her and standing up abruptly, nearly knocking over her mug of coffee as Gilbert steadied the table. "Oh I'm going to be late!" Amelia hurried over and grabbed her coat and put it on, putting the mug in the sink as Gilbert followed her with his gaze amused. "I'll see you later, okay?" she leaned over and pressed her lips on his cheek, not awaiting his answer before she was out of the door.

A warm smile appeared on his face as his cheeks turned a soft pink, lifting up his hand and tracing with his fingers the spot she had kissed him on, before standing up and doing a little victory dance, not seeing or hearing Bash walk in. He stared at Gilbert amused, clearing his throat and chuckling when the young man looked up startled, an embarrassed look on his face once noticing he had been caught. "Did a certain blonde get you all happy?" Bash poked fun at Gilbert, his thick accent pulling through.
