Mika's POV
I woke up more comfortable than I can ever remember, which is weird because I'm pretty sure I was in a fight right before this. Not to mention I was in the woods as I have been for the past six months.
Wait...
The woods...
The tracker...
The war wolves!
I shot from the bed only to be yanked down and a hiss escaped my lips. I looked to see shackles around my arms and legs, pinning me tight to what looked like a hospital bed. As I pulled on the chains, a slight burn came to my wrists and I realized the chains must have some silver in them, just enough to cause pain when I put too much pressure on them.
Great. I was either in a pack's house or captured by Hunters. Either way, this didn't look good and I needed to escape. Fast. If the tracker from my old pack could find me, the rest must not be far behind. I didn't have the luxury to stay locked up here.
Lucky for me, I may be strapped in, but the chains were pretty long, obviously meant to give me some sort of wiggle room. Idiots, I thought as I smiled to myself. I had to stretch a bit, but I managed to bring my hand up to my matted hair, finally locating the bobby pin after some digging through the clumps of dried mud. (Cut me some slack, I haven't had a real shower in well over six months!)
I stuck the bobby pin into the locks around my wrists and fiddled with them a bit till the chain on my left hand snapped opened. I was about to go about to my left hand when voices came out of nowhere, appearing at the door along with a few shadows.
"I don't care how small he is, you should have checked if he was a rogue before you-"
The door bust open and a pair of bright, sea blue eyes gazed down at me. Before I even had time to process, the strong smell of lavender and vetiver assaulted my nose, turning my vision blurry and my mind spinning. It was like the world suddenly became something beautiful as the calming scents made me soften my mind as though I was drunk.
Mate! A voice cried out in my head and my attention sprung awake from its daze. What? I thought to myself. Mate! The voice cried again. This one's ours!
I sat there in shock as I stared at the boy before me. He was tall, way taller than me, with glowing blue eyes and dusty hair the fell lightly over his eyes. His body was large and sculpted as though it were made of stone yet all I could think was how lovely it must feel in those arms.
"-ect you," I heard a voice say and a slight stab in my chest woke me up from my daze again. I made eye contact with those beautiful blue eyes that were now laced with panic.
"Wha-" I began before he cried out again.
"I reject you!" He shouted before he turned on his heels and stormed out of the room. Leaving me gasping as the pain in my chest intensified as I realized what happened.
My mate rejected me.
My mate... the one person promised to be by the moon goddess, the one who was supposed to take care of me, treasure me, love me...
I thought the breaking of the pack bond was bad, but that was nothing compared to the feeling of my soul shattering as the last chance I had at happiness crumbled to the ground before me.

Adriel's POV
I sat in my office, spinning in circles in the chair as the wolf inside me purred as though it was a cat. Ever since I woke up, he was like that, as though all the worries in the world were far far away. I don't remember anything good necessarily happening, but I was still enjoying the nice feeling when the idiot twin brothers of mine burst into the room.
