Mika's POV:
The wind felt wild through my fur as I raced through the trees, my wolf's mouth opened as we took in heavy breaths. The air was crisp and refreshing on my pelt, a wolfish grin on my face as I maneuvered my way away from the two war wolves chasing after me.
Kele and Keo were hot on my heels, I could hear the pants as their massive forms fought to keep up with my small and nimble wolf. I had to be quick if I was going to win this exercise. With two trained wolves on me, I had to make sure to have them both on my radar to avoid any sort of tag team take-down they would try and pull. I had watched the twins practice many times. Perhaps they weren't the strongest alone but as a team, I had seen them take down Adriel and Tokala respectively.
It was a hard balance to try and outrun them and keep note of their location all at once. My concentration was stretched to the max as I fought to keep my tail out of their wolves' bite. Kele was the more energetic one, obviously, and was constantly right on my tail, pushing me to the right as he nipped at my heels.
Keokuk was far more patient, letting his twin steer me in any direction he wanted while Keo would wrap around to try and cut me off. It had nearly worked a few times, the latest coming close as Keo had managed to knock me back after sneaking around my bind spot. By the grace of the goddess, I had managed to fall just right to spring back up and narrowly escape Kele's jaws.
It was a risk for them that, fortunately for me, didn't pay off. Due to their simultaneous attack and my quick and lucky get-a-way, they were slow to recover and I had managed to slip their track and sprinted off into the forest.
This time I didn't hold back to track their hunt. I had a large enough head start that I just kept sprinting full force out of their range.
It felt like a few minutes but when my muscles began to grow sore, I realized I had been running for quite some time. When a strong force started to grow on my mind, I realized I had nearly reached the pack boarders and a wide smile spread on my face.
I won! I 'escaped' the proteges of the head war wolf himself was so proud of. No doubt it was a hit to his pride but no matter how much he frowned at me, Tokala had to acknowledge my skills now.
I stopped for a second to catch my breath. Damn, the borders of Adriel's pack were massive. I must have been at least an hour (by wolf) run from the pack house.
Mika? Adriel's voice cut through my head, startling me as I had yet to get used to the pack link. My old pack never let me utilize the link, so the experience of having someone in my head was still foreign to me.
Adriel! I did it! I beat the twins!
I heard his chuckle in my head. Good job pup, you've gotten strong. I'm proud of you.
I could feel the warmth blow up to my face. Pup. That was a new one. Not to mention he said he was proud. Has anyone ever told me that before? My head was giddy with happiness.
Where are you? Adriel asked.
Umm, southern border I think? That was where Tokala told me to run too.
Mm, Adriel agreed. Well, you should come on back. The twins are on their way to you, but they're still about 30 minutes away.
I suppressed a small chuckle at the massive lead I had gained on the two war wolves.
Don't get too smug, pup. They didn't know which way you were headed. Tokala told you to run to the South but the twins were forced to track you blind.
I still won... I mumbled, proud regardless. I'll see you soon.
See you soon, pup. Love you.
