Mika's POV:
Before I could even open my eyes, the pain overwhelmed me enough to make my stomach turn in circles. My body felt as though an elephant had laid across my lap rendering me unable to move a muscle.
A low groan escaped my lips as I attempted to force my eyes open. The room around me was fuzzy and bright, the lights blinding me as though it had been years since I saw them. When I was finally able to focus, the first thing my eyes landed on was the head of white hair draped over my arm, a thin frame attached to it.
My stirring must have caused the boy to wake, because those silver-white locks lifted to reveal a pair of crystal-clear eyes, silver like his har. The boy's face was full of youth and beauty like I'd never seen before. I had to squint my eyes, my head fuzzy at the memory of the boy.
"Noko?" My voice was rough and scratchy as it left my throat.
The boy's expression turned into one of confusion and a bit of panic. His mouth opened but the words that came out seemed to come from miles away. I just continued to stare and try to wrap my head around what was happening.
Why was Nokomis here? I hadn't seen him for years. I had assumed he let the pack or something. Wait... pack? Was I in the pack house? No... I ran...
I ran! That's right!
Running, the Rose Moon Pack.... My mate...
All of a sudden reality began to unfold before me. The bright lights surrounding my vision seemed to fade, the pale colors of the Rose Moon's hospital wing I was oh so familiar with coming into focus. I looked towards Nokomis, his silver hair beginning to darken into a dusty brown. His eyes began to change as well, the warmth spreading through his iris' as the blue returned, filling me with an odd, jittery sensation.
"Mika, thank the goddess," Adriel looked panicked and relieved at the same time as he called my name. His arms were suddenly around me, pulling me tight into his embrace, surprising me with the new feeling. "Do you know how worried I was?"
He released me slowly, his had working to brush the hair from my eyes, scanning my face for any injuries.
"How do you feel?" He asked after a moment. "Anything hurt? Do you remember what happened?"
I blinked, trying to recall what landed me here this time. What had happened? I was talking with Ayana about her wife, then...
The Rogue.
Ayana!
I bolted upright in my bed, surprising the hell out of Adriel as he took a step back. "I-is Ayana..."
He looked at me with confusion of his own to match the panic in my eyes and breath.
"Ayana? She's fine."
I sank down into my chair. "Good," I breathed. "And the Rogue?"
Adriel eyed me up and down. "You mean the one practically ripped in two? I assume that was your handywork?"
I couldn't tell if there was caution in his voice or if he was impressed. Perhaps both?
My mind was slowly starting to put things back together. I remembered cradling the doctors dying body in my hands. She had lost so much blood. She was dying, I could feel her heartbeat fading.
