Being an agent isn't as cool as Hollywood makes it seem.

No, really, trust me on this one.

Well, maybe the regular agents who have simply been hired to sit in offices, do paperwork, stare at screens, and listen to people's phone calls, but I'm not one of those agents. I got the shitty end of the stick.

Leon and I, both.

We've only seen Sherry a handful of times, and the more time went on, the less we saw of her until the visits just suddenly stopped. Claire has thankfully kept in contact through email, and we have the pleasure of seeing Chris more often than we'd like. Jill Valentine, from S.T.A.R.S. is still around, alive and kicking, although, I only saw her once and then she kind of went ghost.

The other agents are nice, though some are really fucking cocky, and need to learn humility. We've lost a few agents, one of the most notable ones being Jack Krauser. I never really liked him, but hearing about his debilitating injury and then his later death in an accident was kind of sad.

Now all of this brings us to now, the present time, trying to enjoy a movie with my boyfriend before one of these assholes call us on yet another mission, as if we don't have lives or something.

"Leon, watch the movie!" I swat his hand away, stopping him from caressing my cheek.

"What?" He questions, prompting me to glare at him. "I can't marvel at your pretty face?" He asks, leaning back "God, you're beautiful".

I instantly turn away, flustered.

He chuckles, taking my chin and forcing me to look at him. "Cute"

"Just shut up and kiss me" I growl at him

"Yes, ma'am"

He leans forward, pressing his lips against mine. Just as he slides his tongue into my mouth, his phone rings. Leon reaches into his back pocket, declining the call without breaking the kiss.

It rings again, he leans back, glancing at the name for a second, before declining it once more.

"Who was that?" I ask.

"Mmm?" He kisses down my neck "S'Nobody"

Only a minute goes by before it rings again. Leon growls, pulling his phone out and answering the call, slipping his hand under my shirt, rubbing his thumb in circles on my skin.

"Adam? Yeah?" He pauses for a moment. "C'mon, I'm busy, man" He pauses again. "Alright, fine. Both of us? Okay, we'll get ready." He hangs up.

I tilt my head in confusion "A mission?"

"Yeah, both of us this time." He rests his head on my shoulder.

Leon and I, being official partners, usually go on missions together. 9/10 times. Sometimes they like to experiment with combinations, most of the time they get it right, at least with Leon. He is very flexible with new partners, while I simply hate new people. Meeting new people and then having to survive flesh eating monsters is the worst, because I just can't trust them to watch my back, the same way Leon does.

We have also been together for six years, which prompts people to ask "How are you not married by now", but we are quite busy, and most of the time we are not home, not getting to enjoy a regular relationship like regular people do. We've been making it work though, patience is key.

"Start packing, they're sending us a plane. We've got to be at the airport in a couple hours."

"Where to now?"

"Spain" He says "Adam will debrief us before we catch our flight."

"Got it."

Since the incident in 1998, most of the agents in our division struggle with psychological scars. Leon and I are no exception, we suffer flashbacks and nightmares like almost everyone else we work with. We live together, and neither of us will walk around our house unarmed, so the neighbors probably think we're crazy or something.

"All ready to go?" Leon asks, watching me drag my suitcase up to the front door.

"Yeah" I say, grabbing the keys to my Hummer. "Let's go"

After struggling for a solid minute to lift up my suitcase into the trunk, we hit the road. It amazes me how terribly some people drive. As if they skipped the road test and went straight to getting their license, and that isn't great for me because I have terrible road rage.

So, several road rages later, we arrive at the airport. A few agents, plus our wonderful friend Adam, meet us at the front to escort us to the private plane. I drop my keys in the hand of a random agent, ordering him to drive my car back to our house. I do not want it just sitting in the airport for something terrible to happen.

"Do be careful" I tell him. "That car is my child."

"So, here's the details" Adam explains "The president's daughter was kidnapped on her way home from college. It looks like it may have been an inside job, but we don't have any evidence to support that. There have been reports of a girl looking very similar to the president's daughter near a rural village in Spain. Your job will be to investigate, and if you find her, bring her home."

"And if she's dead?" Is what I wanted to ask, but I didn't because the last thing I need is for Adam and Leon to gang up on me with a lecture on how I should be more positive. So, I simply ask him where our equipment is.

"There are a few agents waiting for you in the airport in Spain. They'll have equipment ready for you."

"Okay" Leon nods. "We'll see you soon, Adam"

"Yeah. You guys be safe out there"

"We'll try our very best" I say.
