"Let's kick some El Gigante ass"
I open the gate not too far from the house. Beyond it is a dark path. A man starts approaching us, twitching like some rabid animal.
Then his head bursts open, revealing some weird internal growth with tentacles. I squeal in disgust and shoot it, putting him down.
"Not zombies, but weird mutant people. That's totally unacceptable." I say.
The further we go, though, there are lot torches up along the path, so at least we don't have to worry about the dark.
It was whole complicated process to gain access to the thing behind the waterfall. It didn't have to be that hard, but Leon insisted that the current was "too strong". I'm sure he was just worried about his hair.
Me? As long as it's not sewer water, I'm fine with my hair getting wet. Leon, however, prefers it to be just the way he left the house with it. I promised him that it will get messed up eventually. He seems to heavily disagree with me though.
The villagers who come out of the cavern from behind the waterfall were easy enough to take care of. I simply just shot their kneecaps and they would fall into the water and drown.
There is a round insignia at the end of it. It's clearly the thing needed to open the church doors. The path in front of us slides open, and Leon contacts Ingrid again.
"We've obtained an object that resembles the cult group's insignia."
"Wonderful. Head back to the church. Ashley's safety is our immediate priority."
He disconnects the transmission. Based on how he is, I think he's just going to keep making these short calls to Ingrid just to make up for the six hours we didn't contact her.
We jump into another boat, and I clench my teeth, trying not to complain. I really hate boats. I hate any body of water I could fall into and drown in. Or any body of water that could be hiding something in it's vast depths.
We end up in the Merchant's cave, where he has a whole shop set up. I sell some jewelry I've found, opting to keep the cats-eye stone.
Walking back up to the surface turns out to be a horrible choice, as villagers start locking us in. We are soon greeted with a few more villagers tugging something into the area we're trapped in. My eyes widen as it shows itself.
It's a fucking giant! I facepalm, feeling dumb. El Gigante literally means "The Giant."
I watch as it punches the doors down and then literally smashes all of the villagers in it's way. So, that takes care of that problem, I suppose. Leon and I dodge an incoming punch, and then glance at each other.
The damned giant starts rolling boulders at us, as if it's playing bowling. I hear howling, and I look up. It's the wolf I saved from earlier.
"Hey, buddy!" I shout, waving at him.
He jumps down and starts loudly barking. I grin, he's trying to distract the giant.
Leon and I start going on a shooting frenzie, while it chases the wolf. It eventually gets tired of our shit and tries to make a grab at us. Except, as tiny humans, we're at an advantage in speed and agility, so we dodge that quite easily.
I quickly roll out a flash grenade. Once it's stunned, Leon sends a nice shotgun shell to it's face. A gross and ugly looking parasite comes out of it's back. I nearly throw up.
Leon, like the crazy ass person we all know and love, jumps onto it's back and starts hacking away at the parasite. He jumps off, once the giant regains it's bearings.
The wolf continues to distract it, while we continue showering it in bullets. Eventually the parasite comes back out again, and Leon jumps onto it's back again, this time permanently taking care of the parasite. The giant finally collapses, and I'm surprised it doesn't crush me.
The gate behind us opens. I kneel in front of the wolf and pet him. He wags his tail and licks my hand, then runs off back into the woods. I smile as I hear a bunch of howls in the distance. His pack, no doubt.
We make our way back to the church. We run into some wolves who are clearly infected with whatever the fuck these villagers are infected with, because when we shoot them they melt into a puddle.
We place the round insignia into the door and it opens. We walk inside and make sure to close the door behind us.
I ring my hair out, or at least attempt to. Some rain water spills onto the floor. Leon runs his hand through his hair, and I can tell he's displeased that it has gotten wet.
Upstairs there is a simple graphic puzzle that I myself decide to work on. It's easy and takes me only a minute to solve. The closed gates raise and I smirk, proud of myself.
We make our way over to a metal door, and I push it open, gun drawn. A girl runs across my vision. I recognize her from the photo.
"Ashley!" I call out.
"Don't come!" She throws a piece of wood at me, and I move out of the way.
"Hey! Take it easy!" I say.
"No! Get away!" She moves herself into a little corner and curls into a little ball.
I look over at Leon for help, who's standing there watching. He doesn't seem to have any motivation to help me calm her down, which is a drastic change from how he usually is. I roll my eyes. If he doesn't want to do his job properly, that means I'm going to have to take over, and I prefer to be the lazy un-motivated one.
"Ashley, please. Calm down, everything's going to be just fine. My name's Ivette, and this is my partner Leon" I motion over to him "We're under the president's order to rescue you."
"What? My f-father?"
"That's right, and we have to get you out of here. Now, come with us." I say, holding my hand out.
She takes it and I help her stand up.
"You're not hurt are you?" I ask.
"No, I don't think so."
"Okay, good. Now let's go home." I say.
