Chapter 17

"See you around."

"Ada!" Leon calls out to her, but it's too late. She's already gone.

"Good riddance. I hope we don't run into her again." I say.

Leon doesn't seem to be happy about that, but I chalk it up to her not answering any of his questions.

We move onto the next room, and Leon starts looking around for more ammo. I find another note.

There seems to be a female intruder among us. We believe she's connected with Sera.

We also believe that she was the one who removed the egg injected into Sera before it hatched. She may have had him retrieve the "sample" before the two American agent's arrival.

It's obvious that her objective is the "sample". We must get to her before she is able to re-establish contact with Sera.

There's also reason to believe that she's working for somebody. We need her alive for interrogation.

The female should be able to answer all our questions. After we have captured her, Sera will no longer be of any concern.

As long as we retrieve the "sample", you may dispose of him as you see fit.

I roll my eyes. If these people think Ada will answer questions, then I feel sorry for them.

Parasites worse than the ones we had to deal with before start showing up, and they're fucking gross. They're like weird centipedes with long legs. The parasites can even detach themselves from the cultists' bodies if the body becomes damaged enough. It's ridiculous.

"This is just one really annoying game of cat and mouse." I say.

"You said it." Leon agrees. "How's your arm?"

"It's fine. Hardly use it anyway."

"Leon! Ivette!"

We both turn around.

"Ah! Luis! How's it going?" I ask, then something catches my eye. A tentacle with a blade on the end of it.

Oh no.

"I got it!" He says, with a smile on his face.

As fast as my body allows me, I tackle Luis, it's enough to save his life, not enough to spare him a nasty wound on his side. He drops something in the process, which Saddler picks up.

"Luis!!!" Leon yells.

I apply pressure to his wound and then whisper in his ear. "Play dead."

It's tiny, but I can see the smirk on his face before his body goes slack.

"LUIS!!!!" I howl in mock despair.

I should be an actress.

"Now that I have the sample, you serve me no purpose." I cast an angry glare at Saddler. "My boy Salazar will make sure you two follow the same fate."
