—————————Endless ringing from her alarm clock was what woke Angela Peregrine from her slumber.
She rolled out of bed, rubbed her eyes, stretched and carried on doing her normal morning routine.
After doing all the hygienic stuff, she put on a casual white button up long sleeve, along with a black pencil skirt. She paired her outfit with some black heels.
Then she proceeded to tie her hair in a neat bun. Afterward, putting on her black round glasses.
Angela chose to not put any makeup on, because it was just an ordinary workday. She only likes putting on makeup when there is a special occasion.
She got her house keys, motorbike keys, and her sling bag, then proceeded to leave her house.
She went to the parking area and arrived at her motorbike. She hopped on and proceeded to go to her usually visited coffee shop. She ordered a double shot and french toasts for take out and headed back to her ride.
She took a sip of her coffee and set it to the side where the cup holder is located. She placed her french toast on the front basket of her motorbike, with that she drove off to the prosecutor's office.
—————————
In five minutes, she reached her workplace. She parked her motorbike in the facility parking, took her coffee and toast, then she entered the offices.
"Good morning, Ms. Peregrine!" The guard greeted her.
"Good morning!" Angela replied and smiled.
She took the way to the library and had encounters with more people.
"Looking favorable today, Ms. Peregrine!"
"Looking good as always, Ms. Peregrine!"
"Good morning, Ms. Peregrine!"
And more words containing the same context.
Angela just replied to all of these with a smile.
After a few minutes of walking, she reached the library.
She proceeded to her desk, where her workmate was. She placed her coffee and toast on her desk.
"Hi, Angela." Mina, her workmate, and friend greeted her. She was smiling, a little too weirdly today.
"Hello, Mina." Angela had a confused frown on her face.
"What's up with you? You're being really weird." Angela asked.
The smile from Mina's face vanished very suddenly.
"I discovered something," Mina said with a pressing face and voice.
"Okay?" Angela questioned.
"Something about you."
"Okay, and what is that?" Angela asked, coming across intrigued, but actually, she didn't really care that much.
"I discovered you applied for a job as a prosecutor's secretary," Mina replied, her voice was fierce and a little disgruntled.
"That's it?" Angela asked, perplexed about the way her friend was acting. She had a delicate smile on her face.
Mina's face switched into an interrogating one.
"If you think I'm leaving you, I'm not. I just want a second job." Angela explained, chuckling at some parts of the context. She placed her hand on Mina's shoulder.
"I'm not actually leaving, I just want to work... more," Angela said, followed by a dreadful chuckle.
It was then followed by uncomfortable silence.
"Are you serious? Aren't you already killing yourself with this job? You arrange books, record books and tidy up this huge library every day. Don't you ever get tired?" Mina asked, upset with Angela's decisions.
Angela understood that her friend had a point,
but she knew she needed this.
She needed more work.
"I know, and I do get tired, but this is how I cope. This is how I forget, and so I'm taking every chance I get." Angela replied in a painful tone.
It was a cold statement that locks away all the emotions she is feeling.
Instead of arguing, Mina gave her friend a subtle smile. She embraced Angela, trying to sign that she's always there for her.
"Just remember, take care of yourself. Okay?" Mina advised, having tears in her eyes, but trying her hardest to not let them fall.
They embraced each other for seconds, then Angela pulled away.
"Gosh, you really are the emotional one." Angela made a comment and laughed at her.
"Anyways, let's work. We have many things to do." Angela said, laughing continuously at her friend's red face.
—————————
"Oh, I forgot to ask. Who's the prosecutor you're going to work for?" Mina asked, whilst both of them were in the middle of recording books.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Angela responded with a smug smile on her face.
Mina was continuously questioning Angela, but not once did she answer.
This went on for the whole day, but eventually, the day had to end.
Mina went home.
And Angela went home a few hours later.
