Athena's PoV:
I was clinging desperately to Ares's arm while we were descending the mountain. We were descending via freefalling, courtesy of Ares.
I was desperately holding the man I love while he was laughing lightly with his arms around my waist. It seems like he'd done this kind of thing before.
After a few minutes of freefalling, Ares unhooked his arms around my waist and I was shocked and began to panic... (I must admit that I forgot that I was a goddess for a second). Ares after seeing my panicked state, smirked and cupped my cheeks with both his hands and kissed my lips passionately. It didn't take a second for me to kiss back and before I knew it we crashed to the ground. At this time, I took note of how a bastard Ares can be at times... but taking my mind out of the freefall by kissing me was sweet of him. I didn't even get hurt when we crashed on the ground because Ares was lifting me a few inches above the ground.
"You can let me down now." I said shyly at Ares. I looked at him with a slight blush. "I could... but I like to hold you. And I haven't seen you blush again." Ares whispered to me before leaning closer. I met him halfway and looped my arms around his neck.
"Cough, cough." Hauzer got our attention. I smiled sheepishly like a child who got caught doing something she's not supposed to do.
"Glad you're both here. We are ready to attack father. All 33 acolytes are accounted for." Alvares filled us in.
"I'll summon my hoplites to aid us in battle and help keep a defensive line to keep enemies away." I said to them while summoning over a thousand hoplites. When the hoplites arrived they immediately formed a phalanx formation while splitting in ten groups, with each group having a hundred soldiers.
I was about to fill them in what was happening when a horn blew loudly. The horn was the signal when the enemies arrived. And just about the same time a large number of soldiers came into sight. I was shocked and cold sweat began to drip unto my back. I looked at Ares but was even more shocked to see him with a smile plastered on his face.
Just as I was about to talk, Ares took my hand and squeezed it tightly before bringing it close to him and kissing it lightly. "Ares... swear that you're gonna come back to me." I pleaded to him. "Of course love. I swear it to the river styx." Ares replied with sincerety and determination.
"And you need to come back to me so we could raise a child together." Ares whispered to me. "I swear it to the river styx." I swore before pecking him on the lips.
He took my hand and looked at the acolytes. "You need to come back home... all of you have pieces of my heart. And I don't know what I'd do if I were to lose any of you." The acolytes put their hands on their chests and nodded at each other. After a moment of peace Leone spoke up. "Of course we're gonna get back home. A hundred thousand enemies is nothing to us. Remember pops that you were the one who trained us." The others roared and raised their weapons.
After that, I nodded at my hoplites and they began to fortify their formation.
After a few seconds I saw a black thing blot out the sun. I realized that it was a huge rock thrown by a catapult. I was thinking of how to counter it when suddenly, Ares jumped up and punched the huge rock, causing it to explode into tiny pebles.
Everyone on the battlefield except the acolytes were stunned with this display of strength. After a few moments of silence, the acolytes charged the enemies. The acolytes weren't in formation and were just charging forward. Ares himself being the vanguard. The enemies weren't stunned for long and also charged. After a few seconds the two opposing forces clashed. I was afraid... on our side there are only 34 fighters while on the other side all 100 thousand enemies moved forwards.
I also wanted to charge forwards but was stunned even more when a hundred enemy soldiers suddenly fell to the ground. All 33 acolytes killed them like sheep.
