The Choice

A/n I've just read through this story and I noticed all the mistakes I made whoops. Anyhoo thanks to those who are willing to read this and I apologise for making you wait.

I couldnt get him out of my head, since that night I haven't been able to concentrate on anything as it all reminds me of him. I am a mess. I've seemed to keep to myself lately I havent eaten or slept and I'm exhausted.

Clary pov

I'm worried that's all I can say. It seems like the more we focus and search for my brother the more Y/n seems to fade away and we're starting to lose her. I haven't spoken to Jace in a while either but hopefully things will work out in the end. The main reason I want to find him is to help him become the good person I know he can be and also to help Y/n. He made her happy, even though he wasnt here long he made her the happiest I've seen and heard from her brother. I havent spoken to her yet as I didnt want to make things worse and also to give her space and let her come to us when she's ready. I cant let her sit in there and destroy herself so I'm currently heading towards her room. "Hey its Clary, can I come in" I asked knocking on her door. I heard a faint 'come in' so I entered. I had to stop myself from crying when I saw her. She was curled up on the bed her face was pale, she lost the light in her eyes and she had bags under them, I noticed that she had lost weight and there was no life left in her at all.

Y/n pov

When Clary came in she stood there and took in my appearance. I noticed how her eyes had tears forming but she didnt let them spill. She sat next to me and put her hand on my shoulder and I lost it. All the emotions I had pent up came crashing down all at once. I sat up and hugged her as a really needed someone right now, she hugged me back and rubbed circles on my back.

"H-how could h-he be so c-cruel"

"Dont worry we'll get him, were getting close"

"Please dont tell Jace this but several days ago I was out for a walk and he came to me"

"Did he do anything say anything that could help find him?"

I shook my head. "He never said anything until I tried to leave, he said dont leave me. He was begging me to stay but I left him I left him because I didnt know who he is anymore. I dont know what to do"

She sat there for a moment in silence until her eyes lit up like they had an idea.

"I have an idea but I'm not gonna tell you cause ur not gonna like it. I need to do this alone but I'll tell you when I get back ok" and with that she upped and left leaving me alone again.

Clary pov

My idea is to talk to Johnathan and maybe try and convince him to turn himself in. I cant stand it anymore, he will make it worse on himself if he keeps hiding. I left the institute and started walking, I didnt care where I ended up I just needed to see him

Time skip brought to u by Magnus's martinis

After hours I found myself on a bridge over looking the institute. I looked around and there was a figure there just staring at it. I knew immediately who it was.

"Johnathan!" He spun round with his serprah blade out and ready to attack. "I'm not here to hurt you, I just came to talk" I put my hands up showing I was here in peace. He put the blade away and i walked over to him. The closer i got the more I saw how much of a mess he is, I got close enough to see the pain in his eyes and in that moment I didnt see him as a half demon monster. I saw him as a human being.

"What is it you want to talk about?"

"I just wanted to say that I'm sorry, for everything that you went through when you were a child and everything that ur going through now" he took in what I just said and gave a little laugh.

"Ur sorry? I dont need ur sorry"

"But I know one thing you do need"

"And what might that be?"

"Y/n. I may not have known you long but I know enough to know that you love her. And i know this because I know who's room that window belongs to, I know that you've seen the mess that she is in right now because of you and you cant do anything to help her" he grabbed me by the throat and pushed me against the bridge.

"You dont know anything about me or what I feel" he let me go and started to walk away.

"I'm going to give you the chance to turn yourself in and I will make sure that ur punishment isn't as severe as it would be, but if you continue to do this then when you are stopped you will be executed"

"Do you really think I care, I have nothing left to live for"

"Yes you do. Y/n told me about that night you visited her and even though she never said it she regrets leaving you she misses you soo much that she has become depressed. She doesn't hate you but she hates what you've become, that gives you something to think about" I left him there to decide on what he is going to do, I hope he comes to his senses and makes the right choice.

I got back and I was told that Valentine is being taken into the Clave's custody. But shortly after we found out that he hadn't arrived and we all knew who took him. Hes chosen his path and I know what I must do.
