Chapter 8

A cell phone went off, breaking Wes out of his thoughts. He felt a vibration in his pocket and quickly realized it was his phone going off. When Wes took the phone out the caller I.D. read 'Coop'.

Of course it was Coop. Wes just prayed that he'd talked to Ella and gotten info on Hope. He put the phone up to his ear and spoke. "What's up Coop?"

"Nothing much, I just finished talking with Ella."

Wes paced nervously back and forth waiting for his friend to tell him what he'd found out. "So what'd she say? Don't leave me in the dark now."

Coop chuckled at his friend and began to relay information. "Hope basically told Ella the same things that you told me. She doesn't know what to think of it, and she doesn't really understand why you left her standing there in her. . ." Wes hung up the line.

He'd had a feeling that Hope might feel that way, and so he shoved his keys in his pocket and headed towards Hope's house so that he could apologize to her.

Leaving Ella's didn't give Hope any more relief for her and Wes's situation. She'd honestly left feeling worse because Reed was now coming home and she didn't feel up to dealing with him.

Reed Williams was four years older than Hope. He'd left home for college and never came back. From time to time Hope and her family would hear about how this new business man named Reed Williams, was taking on the business world, and claiming it as his own, making billion dollars deals with some of the biggest companies in the world.

He'd hated living on the ranch and counted the days until he could leave for college. It broke her mother heart, and her father, well he didn't talk about him. It was as if Daniel Williams had never had a son in the first place.

Now he was coming home with is career in the toilet because of some deal gone bad. Oh, and from what she could find from her own research he was approaching bankruptcy rather quickly, or maybe he'd already filled, the websites and tabloids she'd found hadn't agreed on that detail.

The worst part of it all was he was coming home. Hope knew that when he got here he would try and pretend that nothing had happened. In her opinion her parents should just throw him out. He wasn't worth their time.

That was Reed for you he never wanted anything to do with you until he needed something from you. Hope did now one thing. When he got here she sure as hell wasn't going to treat him like family and put up with his crap. She'd had enough of it to last him a lifetime before he'd left.

Trying to think of the situation in a positive way was difficult and almost impossible. She might as well try and avoid it as much as possible now before all hell broke loose.

The phone in Hope's office rung and Emma ran to answer it. "Hello, Hope?"

Emma giggled into the phone. "No auntie Ella it's me Emma."

"Hey sweet pea, can you please hand the phone to your mommy?"

Smiling happily Emma said, "Okay, Auntie Ella."

With that last comment she handed the phone over to her mother. "Hey, Ella what's going on?"

"Nothing much I just got finished talking to Coop about fifteen minutes ago and I have news on what Wes was thinking."
