"You're kidding right?" I said, laughing nervously.

"No, she managed to sneek her way on campus but five minutes ago," Mr. Slaughter replied.

I whimpered and hung my head. Why was Hailey back here? And what was I going to do if she tried to abduct me? I'm not the type of guy to hurt a girl. I mean, I'm not the type of person to hurt a girl.

“I can’t believe this,” I muttered to myself.

“If you see her, notify me instantly,” Mr. Slaughter instructed, dead serious.

“And how am I to do that exactly?” I asked.

“I have inserted my number onto your phone, and even added myself to speed-dial. Press 3 and I will instantly be notified,” he explained before spinning me around and pushing me back to the game. “Now, go and finish the game,”

I walked over in a sort of daze. How would he know where I was? I couldn’t exactly talk to him and be like, ‘Oh hi sir, just letting you know, Hailey has abducted me and we are heading towards the parking lot’. She’s an incredibly smart girl, she would take my phone before she tried anything. Damn it Jace, why did you have to get yourself a stalker, then get me mixed up in all this?

“Jace, we need your help man,” Hayden said, jogging over to me as both of the teams set up.

“They just scored again, and now we are drawing with them. We have one minute left, and we need you to score for us,” Blake said.

I looked them up and down and saw they were sweating badly and out of breath. Since when was Team B so good at soccer? I decided to forget about that considering I was wasting time. I spun around and began the game, dribbling the ball around several players. The clock in my head ticked down as I dashed towards the goal. My eyes locked with the goal keeper, and I grinned as his face fell. We both knew what was going to happen.

I drew my leg back and smashed to ball through the goal keepers legs, scoring just as the game ended. I fist pumped the air and was lifted onto several shoulders as everyone chanted ‘We won, we won!’ I laughed and looked around me, taking in all of my team and the opposition and even a girl standing at the edge of the field.

Wait, a girl?!

I whipped my head around and, ignoring the whiplash I got, stared at Hailey. Slowly, the rest of my team stopped their chants and looked over as well. Even the other teams were staring at Hailey with mixed emotions.

“Hailey, what the hell are you doing here?” I suddenly snapped.

My team placed me back on the ground and stepped aside for me to storm over to her.

“I’m here to watch my boyfriend play,” she shrugged casually. “Though, I never knew how good you were at sports,”

I gulped, for two reasons. The first, her saying she was my girlfriend, which she certainly wasn’t, and also for the fact that she may be catching on to the fact that I’m not actually Jace.

“People change. My sister trained me for a while, so now I’m just as good as her,” I shrugged, looking away.

“Is that true?” she asked.
