I winced in pain as Juliet cleaned the wound on the side of my head. Even though she was being as gentle as possible, it still didn’t stop it from hurting like hell.

“Why did you get into a fight like that?” she sighed, meeting my eyes.

“That jerk deserved it,” I muttered back.

“But you didn’t have to do it,” she said, gently taking my hand to examine it.

“I felt I had the obligation considering you’re my girlfriend,” I said and immediately both of us fell silent.

Why the hell did I just say that?

“I’m sorry?” she squeaked, her cheeks flushing pink.

“I said that you’re my girlfriend,” I mumbled, my cheeks flushing even redder than hers.

Another long silence fell between us then. My mind was going crazy, trying to figure out why I said something to ridiculous. I mean, I am a GIRL, not a GUY. I shouldn’t be dating other girls! This was ridiculous! I most certainly wasn’t a lesbian, so why was I suddenly dating a girl?

I got an intense headache just thinking about it.

Abruptly, Juliet leaned forward and gently kissed my cheek, causing my blush to deepen. I looked at her with wide eyes and she just giggled.

“I’d be honored,” she said, smiling sweetly.

I couldn’t help but smile back. She was such a nice girl, and she deserved someone amazing who would love her and cherish her forever. I knew that person wasn’t me, but I would be her Knight for as long as it takes for her to find her Prince Charming.

“I should be heading back,” I said, realizing it was now 3 o’clock in the afternoon.

“But your wounds,” Juliet began to argue but I gently kissed her forehead, causing her to fall silent.

“I will be fine, I promise I will go directly to the infirmary when I get back,” I smiled.

“Alright,” she sighed, defeated.

“I will call you tonight,” I said as I headed towards the door.

“Tonight then,” she smiled, waving slightly.

I waved back before leaving the house and stepping into the rain. It wasn’t as heavy as before, but it was still constant. I sighed as I headed to the garage and jumped on my motorbike, strapping my helmet on gently before starting the engine and heading off.

The drive back was short, but rather painful. My ribs felt like they were about to break, and my knuckles were terribly bruised and swollen. Then of course my head injury didn’t exactly make anything any better, especially considering it caused several dizzy spells on the way back to the Academy.

Despite all that, I managed to arrive there alive, and just like I promised, I headed directly to the infirmary. Not surprisingly, the second I stepped inside, my mother was all over me, ushering me to a bed an examining me thoroughly.
