"H-H-Hailey, what are you doing here?" I choked.
"I'm here to see my boyfriend obviously!" she snapped back. "And it was a good idea too! Look at you; barely two weeks and you are already being held by a, a, a man!"
"Jace has moved on, he doesn't have time for you," Kalem growled.
"Hey, do I have no say in this?" I snapped at him, causing him to turn his handsome face towards me.
"What was that?" he asked, leaning dangerously close to my face.
I gulped, my words catching in my throat. I never realized how captivating his blue eyes were.
It was rather scary.
"Step away from him you gay bastard!" Hailey snapped, suddenly separating the two of us so she was between Kalem and I. She held my wrist tightly, ensuring I couldn't get away.
"Let go of him," Kalem growled.
"Why should I? He is my boyfriend after all. I have a duty to protect him from people like you," she hissed.
God, if I die here, please make sure I am remembered as the brave woman who tried to help her brother, and not the one who died in a battle of non existent boyfriend/girlfriend relationship problems...
"Jace, we're leaving. Now," Hailey snapped, dragging me out of the changing rooms and back towards my dorm.
"Hailey, what the hell is going on? Why are you here?" I said, snatching my wrist back.
I was very aware of the two PE classes spilling out of the changing room to catch a glimpse of the scene before them.
"When I found out you were here, in an another all guys school, I couldn't help but worry. So I came to check up on you and keep you safe," she explained, crossing her arms over her slender chest; her black hair gently flowing around her body.
"I can take care of myself," I muttered.
Why did this crazy girl have to be here? I thought we had gotten rid of her?
"Obviously not!" she snapped, her eyes brimming with tears.
"Hey, calm down, don't cry," I said, beginning to panic.
This was a very, very bad turn of events. If I didn't calm her down, everything was going to be ruined.
"You are so heartless! I told you how I felt and you just left me there, in the cold rain!" she started to scream.
Oh dear god, please no.
"Haily, I told you why I turned you down! So why are you here now?" I asked.
"Because I still love you!" she shouted.
This was very bad. She actually thought I was Jace. I knew it was bad when she barged into the changing rooms and started shouting at Kalem. I couldn't believe I was going along with it, but I had no bloody choice! Though, one thing in my brothers letter made no sense. Our mother is going along with it. How could she go along with this? Unless...
Oh dear god, the torture hasn't even started yet.
"Hailey, please, calm down!" I said, gripping her shoulders.
"Why do you hate me Jace?" she sobbed.
"I don't hate you, I, just, I'm scared," I said.
God, what nonsense was I spewing now? Please forgive me Jace...
