“Well, I actually have two favors to ask of you,” Kalem explained.
“Two? I only owe you one!” I snapped back at him.
I gritted my teeth and clenched my fists. This jerk; asking me for his favor now! And asking for two! Selfish bastard; I had already been beaten up and sent to hell on earth this weekend. I certainly didn’t want to do any more favors for people.
“Yes, but the second is really the favor you owe to Patrick,” he said.
Oh right, I do owe Patrick don’t I? God damn it all.
“Jesus,” I muttered, rubbing the bridge of my nose in frustration. “Hurry up then, tell me what the hell you guys want,”
“Well, for us Third Years, we have incredibly important duties to fulfill this week before the festival; though there is a much larger load for the Dorm leaders and the Vice Leaders,” Kalem began explaining. “I, obviously, am Dorm Two’s leader, and Patrick is your Vice Leader. Now, due to the large load we receive this week, Patrick is unable to perform all of his usual tasks as the Vice Leader. Now, tomorrow morning an Indian exchange student will be arriving,”
“Exchange Student? We get those?” I interrupted, surprised.
“Yes, quite a few people in this school are exchange students,” Kalem sighed. “And it is Patrick’s job to show those people around if they are in our Dorm. Now, as he will be too busy for this, he has decided to send a substitute; you,”
I could feel the blood drain from my face. Something about this seemed off, and three quarters of my brain was telling me to decline and run for it; while the other part decided to remind me as to why I was in this situation in the first place.
You’re a girl, in an all guy’s school. You have to keep your secret for just another five weeks, then who really cares? But right now, if you don’t take this deal, you and your brother’s lives will be in the deep end.
I groaned and ran a hand through my hair, while I placed the other hand on my hip. This was so stressful, and honestly I didn’t know how much more stress my body could possibly take.
“Alright, fine, I can do that for him,” I sighed. “What exactly do I have to do?”
“Oh good,” Kalem smiled, making me blush slightly. “Well, all you have to do is meet the exchange student at the front of the school tomorrow at 7am, and for the whole day you will be giving them a tour around the school,”
“So I miss out on all my classes?” I asked, grinning broadly.
Yes! This was great! I could miss out on Math and all those other boring subjects. I’m sure my Biology class can do some independent work for the lesson.
“During the week leading up to the Festival, we only have half a day of classes. Even so, tomorrow you must attend one of your classes in the second half of the day with the exchange student, as it is School Protocol to attend at least once class a day if you are in good condition,”
I grinned even wider at that. I had PE in the second half of the day tomorrow; and this week we were playing basketball. Team A’s Captain had once again made a new deal; first to score gets what they want from the other person. He already owed me two things; to be my personal maid for a day (outfit and everything), and he just owed me something that I wanted. I still didn’t know what I wanted from him because honestly, he had nothing.
“That’s fine, so it was 7am out front, right?” I asked and Kalem nodded.
“Now, onto the favor you owe me,” he said, grinning evilly.
