The next day you fell asleep was a relief. For once, those scarring nightmares didn't plague your mind. For once, you dreamt of nothing. Simply nothing—a black screen that covered your eyes and let your mind rest. But as relieving as it was, it was still unnerving. The anomaly that those horrid visions would simply vanish for a night didn't make sense.
Something, or someone, was behind this, and you were determined to find out. Something didn't add up, and you were sure that the man you'd been encountering was somehow involved. Sure, you didn't have any proof, nor any real reason to link the two things, but you were certain. Your heart was telling you that he definitely had something to do with it.
The tugging feeling in your gut rarely lets you down, so you were certain it either is his doing, or he's some kind of connection to the cause. It was this tugging feeling in your gut that refused to let you slumber peacefully, so a night of natural sleeplessness ate away at you while you grew hungrier and hungrier through the passing hours of the night.
The sensation of the nightmares still seemed to linger at your fingertips, like you could reach out and your hand would be engulfed in an instant. Your senses were on high alert at all times, and a mild paranoia began to manifest itself in your mind. This fear as you lay in bed and the gnawing hunger of your stomach made you crawl out of bed and get dressed as quietly as you could.
You were exhausted, but your mind just wouldn't let you sleep.
So instead of taking some melatonin supplements as perhaps some others would, you made the genius decision of making a midnight stop to the coffee shop. You grabbed your bag from off the floor, shoved a book and your laptop in it, and exited the house with care to not wake Taehyung. He was heading out of town for a small vacation with his friend Jungkook soon, so you wanted him to rest easy. The last thing you wanted was him canceling his trip because of you.
So you slipped out of your house as Tae continued to snore faintly, and huddled up in your thick puffer jacket to protect yourself from the chilling night. You puff out clouds of white as you breathe in rhythm with your steps, the weather getting colder and colder with each passing day. When you finally turned the corner to your favorite coffee shop, you bump headfirst into a man.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" you exclaimed, stumbling back and bowing.
"Ah," he replies, stepping back also, "No worries."
You glance up, realizing that the one you had run into was none other than Hoeseok, the man you'd been trying to avoid for so long. You try to wiggle past him before he has a chance to speak to you, but he grabs your wrist and promptly stops you.
"Ya! (name), where have you been! I tried calling you but you never answer! I was getting worried..." he says, letting go of your hand when he felt your arms tense.
"Uhm, I've been very busy!" you quickly explain, anxious to get away from him. How were you supposed to tell him you never wanted to see him again? As mean as that sounds, you didn't like to stick around with people who made you feel uncomfortable. Taehyung was one of the very, very few people who made you feel at home, and that's why you were able to actually be his roommate.
"Busy with what?" Hoseok asks.
"Uhm..." you panicked. "C-composing!" you exclaimed, relieved that you found an excuse. "I've been working on a new piece," you say. "I'm just here to get a cup of coffee and restock on coffee beans! I've been working all night and really need to get going, so if I could go order..."
You were rambling, and you were sure Hoseok could see the panic on your face, but you didn't care. You just wanted to get your cup of coffee and get out of there.
