The day ended with a phone call from Taehyung. It wasn't anything important, just Taehyung asking what was gonna be for dinner and when you'd be back, since the sun was starting to set and you'd usually never stay out later than eight. You chatted on the phone for a couple minutes while Suga walked alongside you silently. He'd slowly just accepted that you'd be by his side till the day was over, so he decided to just ignore you until you left.

When you hung up, you bowed to Suga and had said a quick farewell before heading home.

You turned the doorknob, stepping into the house you shared with Taehyung and took of your shoes. Placing them by the door, Taehyung poked his head out of the kitchen with the house phone in his hand.

"I just ordered pizza," he said, grinning. "I didn't expect you to be back so soon, but the pizza should be here in 15-20 minutes."

You nod curtly and flop down on the couch in the living room.

"I'm exhausted," you say, and that wasn't necessarily a lie. You'd spent the day tailing a man whose name you didn't even know, and had tried countless times to get him to at least speak.

"Really now?" Taehyung replies, raising an eyebrow. "What did you do all day, anyways? You're usually never out for that long."

"Eh, not much. I just ran into him again."

"Him?" he asks, confused.

"Yeah," you say, "him."

"Oh!" Taehyung's face lights up with realization. "You mean that guy who you brought home?"

"Well, when you out it like that, it sounds kinda weird but yeah, him."

Taehyung nods his head in approval, like he's proud that you've done so. "So, what happened?"

You slumped down into the couch cushions and let out a lengthy sigh. "He won't talk to me."

"Explain, go on, go on," Taehyung urges.

"I tried talking to him, but he just refused to tell me anything," you say, slightly irritated. "It's like he has way too many secrets that's he like, forbidden to tell. And there's just something about him that's so...mysterious?"

"Mysterious?" Taehyung repeats.

"Well, I don't know if that's the best word or the right word to describe him, but, well...how do I put this..." you pause for a moment to think about it. "It's more or less just him being really secretive. I swear to god, he's hiding something. I just know it."

Taehyung laughs, a sound that you've grown accustomed to, yet still manages brighten your day. "Really? Like what?"

You frown, "That's the problem. I have no clue what. I don't even know man, he could tell me he's a fucking demon and I'd believe him at this point. He could tell me he's some kind of serial killer or maybe some weird ass demigod or some shit and I'd believe him. I'd fucking believe him."

Taehyung laughs again, before going to open the door when the doorbells rings. "Pizza's here."

You groan on the couch as my stomach rumbles. "About time. I'm exhausted and hungry."

As Taehyung leaves the living room to answer the door, you shift your gaze to the bare ceiling. It's a little disorientating how there's someone who can invoke such curiosity from you. You haven't found someone who you were this interested in since college. There was this one guy, who, now that you think about it, was nearly as secretive as that man. To say the least, you did end up breaking his shell, but it wasn't nearly as hard as this guy. You decide to set those thoughts aside the smell of pizza fills your nose. You decide to forget all that happened today for another day and indulge yourself in the pizza sitting right in front of you.

Suga continues to stroll down the street without you. He breathes a sigh of relief when you leave, considering whether to kill you right as you turn your back to him. But, he holds back. He doesn't know why, but he does. And continues to walk.

He's already realized there's no way he can let you live.

As soon as you approached him for the second time, he knew you were one of those humans who liked to stick their noses into things. And as soon as you had asked for his name, you had just unknowingly dug your own grave. Suspicions were never good, especially when it could put his life on the line. He didn't think you were much of a threat, but it could never hurt to be safe. Better safe than sorry, if anything.

It's an unsaid rule in the Demon world to stay away from human relationships. They're not only dangerous but very risky. Falling in love or becoming friends with a human would mean one of two things, either becoming attached to humans and becoming unable to hunt for blood and weakening and dying, or being scorned by the Demon world and exiled forever. As a Demi, being scorned wasn't much of a worry for Suga. Becoming weak was. He had worked hard to build this reputation and image of a relentless killer, and he wasn't about to let it slip.

He not only built that image and reputation, but he'd built up these walls that kept him strong. He wouldn't succumb to weakness like he had when he was three. He wouldn't let someone knock down those walls he had worked so hard to build from the ground up. He wasn't about to go from the merciless Demi to the Demi who fell in love or became friends with a human.

But then again, there's no way you could find him again unless he was the one going for you. Suga figured it'd be better if he stayed clear of you for a while. Let you forget about him to make it an easy kill. Suga knows the basics of an assassination, and having the target be overly interested or suspicious of you only makes it a trickier hunt.

Stay low and in the shadows. Strike when the time is right.

That's what Suga's lived by all his life.
