You groaned as your eyes fluttered open, sunlight peeping through the windows of your bedroom. As you slowly sat up, you could hear faint noise and chatter from the kitchen, most likely Taehyung. You swung your legs off the side of your bed, pushing yourself up as you stood. Walking out into the kitchen, you made yourself a cup of coffee before heading to the living room. As you entered the living room, you saw Taehyung lying on the couch, and the stranger nowhere to be seen.

"He left," Taehyung said before you got a single word out of your mouth, as if reading your mind. "I don't know why either, so don't ask me. I came in at like 6:30 and he was already  gone."

"Oh."

To say you were disappointed was an understatement. A devilishly handsome stranger who was shrouded in secrecy. What wasn't there to be interested in? You sighed as you ran a hand through your hair. "I'm gonna go to the park," you said.

Taehyung nodded nonchalantly as you walked back to your room. Changing into a large t-shirt with an oversized hoodie thrown on top and a pair of denim shorts, you pulled on a pair of converse and stuffed your phone and wallet into the pocket of your hoodie. Stepping out into the chilly morning atmosphere, you quickly checked the time before closing the door behind you.

8:23 AM

Meaning he left over 2 hours ago. You sucked in a breath as you shoved your hands into your pockets, walking in the rough direction of the nearest park. You absentmindedly trudged through the streets of Seoul, before an ear-splitting scream sounded. Your eyes widened as you frantically scanned the area, and was horrified to find that no one else had reacted―as if no one else heard it. You thought you were hearing things, but decided to take a look around just to be sure.

*

Suga ran a hand through his hair, exhaling as he stared coldly at the corpse before him. Some drunk and presumably desperate girl had grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and dragged him into this dark alleyway, pinning him against the wall. She had tried to be seductive, but she ended up stumbling over herself, making Suga deem her only one thing―pathetic. She had begun moving her hands over his body, which Suga found irritating. So what did he do? He pushed her to the floor as his eyes began to glow red, demon wings (though one significantly smaller with scratches and holes as if it were ripped in half) sprouting from his back, his left arm pulsing with red energy as his left hand was encased by a gauntlet with sharp tips that resembled―no, were a demon's claws. His left hand traveled to his neck as he tapped his Demon Mark with his index and middle finger, drawing energy as he pierced her heart in one swift movement, an inevitable scream escaping her lips. He didn't mind though, since other humans usually couldn't hear the screams of one being hunted by a demon.

He glanced at his bloodstained hand before he glanced at the dead body. He kneeled down and plunged the same hand into the hole he had made in her heart, the blood inside her reacting to his touch. It swirled around his arm in streams, before traveling up his neck, his Demon Mark absorbing the blood as it was transferred to his heart. As he shook his hands, the gauntlet faded away as did the red energy that overtook his arm. He cast one last emotionless glance at the corpse before dusting himself off and leaving, withdrawing his wings as they faded. "Tch," he mumbled, blocking the light of the sun from his eyes. "Pathetic bitch."

When he thought that would be the only scream he would hear that day, another one sounded as his whirled back towards the alleyway he had just previously left. It's her. I knew she was different.

You found her. You found that girl lying on the cold and rough floor, in that dark alleyway. And you saw it. That circular wound going straight through the heart, the baffling lack of blood. "It was them," you breathed, after getting over the initial shock of seeing a dead body and screaming. "It has to be..." you said as your breath hitched with every step you took towards the body. But before you could get any closer, other people began to flood the alleyway after hearing your scream. The police arrived soon after that, ushering you and the crowd out of the area.

Protests and complaints could be heard from the citizens, no doubt concerned about humankind's safety.

"When will the police catch this murderer?!"

"We're all in danger!"

"Can't you find him?!"

"We're not safe like this!"

Etc, etc.

You sighed again, trying to shake off the shock of seeing a newly hunted corpse. You couldn't see too much in the dim light of the passage, but you could vividly remember the shocked expression of the girl, her wide eyes and gaping mouth. The alleyway had contained a pungent smell of alcohol, meaning either she or the killer was drunk―most likely her. But why would anyone want to kill a random drunk girl? You couldn't think of any sort of reasonable explanation for these murders. But then it hit you.

There wasn't a reason.

You thought over all the killings of similar situations like this one that you knew.

A girl in her mid twenties found dead in a park, killed around 9:42 PM. A man in his late thirties found dead on the sidewalk after a typhoon had recently passed, killed around 7:23 PM. A girl in her teenage years found dead in her hospital bed, killed around 5:31 AM. The list goes on and on, all the victims' ages varying, none of them with any type of criminal background, nor any common enemies.

You still didn't know much, but you had a hunch that these murders wouldn't be leaving your life anytime soon. If there was anything you were sure of, this murderer didn't have plans or special cases, nor were they a hitman or assassin. They were killing random people. For what reasons though, you didn't know. And if there was anything else you knew, you weren't gonna let these things slip by so easily, you needed some sort of excitement in your life. After all, inspiration doesn't come from  a boring and monochromatic life.
