You hurriedly shoved your hands into the pocket of your hoodie, sifting through the contents. After getting a hold of your phone, you quickly called Taehyung. Ring after ring sounded, but you heard nothing that resembled the sound of Tae's voice―and then the rings stopped as a robotic voice began to recite a line that's been said countless times around the world; "The number you have dialed is currently unavail―"

You cut it off as you hung up, annoyed. "Goddammit Tae, the one fucking time you don't pick up your phone," you cursed under your breath as you stuffed your phone back into the pocket of your hoodie, and beginning to run.

To where, even you weren't quite sure, though you knew you were going in the general direction of the park, one of your safe spots. A place you could breathe, a place you could think. One of the few places your mind would unwind itself from the jumbled mess of a puzzle it was.

You just ran and ran, until you were starting to run out of breath as your light and quick inhales became heavy pants. And then you saw him, the back of his head, and a glimpse of something tattooed on his name. Your eyes widened as you sprinted the last bit of distance between the two of you and you grabbed his wrist, looking up at his piercing gaze once he stopped.

He shook your hand off and continued walking, ignoring you as if you were never there.

"Wait!" you cried. He stopped again as he turned around slowly.

"Why...," you said between breaths, "Why are you avoiding me? You left this morning without a word, honestly! I was worried something happened to you, like if you'd collapsed out on the streets again!"

His eyes widened the tiniest bit, but the undeniable look of secrecy remained in his eyes. He didn't answer, and you could easily tell he had no intention to. You sighed. "I see. You don't want to tell me anything."

He glared at you and nodded slightly, and expecting you to leave, he started walking again.

"Well, at this point I think you'd expect me to leave," you chirped beside him, causing him to flinch ever so slightly as you matched your stride with his. "But you'd be wrong. Even if you don't want to talk to me, doesn't mean I don't want to talk to you.

He made a sound resembling a growl. There was no getting rid of you, was there? You smiled. "Unless you really want me to leave, then I'm gonna try to get to know you. You're so...mystique."

There was something in your eyes that intimidated him, ever so slightly, which scared him. Him, a Demi, intimidated by a mere human. But it was your eyes. Your piercing (eye color) orbs that held this determination, this way of conveying a message saying "I'm going to unravel your secrets". This emotion that looked like she was trying to solve the puzzle that is a living being.

He grunted as he shifted his gaze from you to the sky, you humming happily as you walked alongside him. His presence was strange. It felt different. It was intimidating as expected, but there was something else. You'd felt your fair share of standing next to an intimidating person, but this guy, he was on another level. He radiated pure power. Like he wasn't just a human, like he wasn't and average being.

Everything about him gave something away, in your opinion. The way he walked was arrogant, but a subtle arrogance. It's like he knows he's stronger, but knows how to keep his guard up. His eyes. That look that could pierce through your soul, this emotion that lingered deep inside of them that said "I'm not what you think". His way of dressing. It had this certain uniqueness about it, like he was trying to blend in but also stand out at the same time.

Thinking about this only brought your curiously forward, as you sneaked glances at him when you thought he wouldn't notice, trying to observe his facial features, trying to find this hidden puzzle piece that may not even be there.

He found you intriguing, to say the least. He definitely hated you though, he had this undying urge to kill you, yet he could never bring himself to finish you off. He also found you rather annoying. You being with him so often limits his chances of finding other humans to kill and gather human blood, and just your presence in general ticked him off. He doesn't even know why, something about you just isn't right.

You hum happily to a familiar tune as you walk with him side by side. "So, where are you going?" you ask.

He doesn't respond, and you aren't surprised.

He feels no obligation to respond to you, not does he really need to. He's going to push you away until you yourself decide to leave. But he wonders how long that's going to take. He glances at you briefly and the two of you made eye contact. Though it was only for a short amount of time, the look your eyes contained was enough to and a shiver down his spine.

You weren't a normal human. That much he could tell. You were different. You had a sharp eye, you were much more alert, more intelligent. You were different enough to even intimidate a Demi.

And that's what scared him the most.
