I wake up abruptly to the sound of something dropping in my room. Looking around my room I see everyone is still fast asleep, what time is it? I glance over at my clock, 5:45 a.m, great.
I stand up and see that my bedside light has fallen over and smashed, I'm going to have to clean that in the morning. I'm about to crawl back into bed beside Derek but I hear a small thud come from out in the hallway, what are my one of my brothers doing awake at almost four in the morning?
Carefully making my way over to my door, I slowly open it, trying not to wake anyone. I peek my head out the door, looking both ways down the dark hallway but see no one. I step out into the hallway and close my bedroom door, I slowly tiptoe down the hallway to the staircase and look down to the dark foyer.
I jump as a loud bang comes from the kitchen area. Quickly running down the stairs, I jolt to a halt into the kitchen and look around for the source of the noise, but find nothing. Entering the kitchen further I keep looking around for any signs that someone might have broken in, but find nothing.
Just as I'm about to make my way back upstairs and to bed a cold chill freezes me in my place, slowly turning around I see a figure standing in the middle of the kitchen, staring at me. They are shrouded in darkness but we hold eye contact for an agonising amount of time before they step forward.
My jaw tightens as the light from outside illuminates their pale face and green eyes. My fists clench and ache at my sides, desperate to punch Ethan square in the jaw and watch him bleed on the tiles.
"You're supposed to be dead."
"And you're supposed to be grounded, but here we are."
He chuckles at his comment while I glare at him. Ethan makes his way around the counter to stand in front of me, he leans against it then pulls the gloves off his hands.
"Get out of my house asshole," I spit at him, standing square on to him, trying to resist the urge to sink my teeth into his neck and drain him of life.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk Evangeline, no need to be so violent," he smiles, all to calm about the situation he's put me in, "I just wanted to talk."
"Then get to it," I sigh, crossing my arms over my chest, refusing to let my eyes leave him.
Ethan pushes himself off the counter and makes his way over to me, stopping an arm's length away. I sink back into myself slightly but not letting him catch onto it, he smiles to himself and puts his hands up in surrender.
"Do you know who I am?" He asks, folding his hands together, a smug smile on his face.
"Ethan Black, a psychopath and serial killer, used to go by the name 'X', a complete asshole who won't leave my house. Want me to go on?" I remark, sarcastically shrugging my shoulders.
"No. Who I am, why I am what I am, what made me this way. Did your mother ever tell you why she and Aiden are so afraid of me?" He muses to himself, admiring his ring.
I clench my jaw and look past him, mum never liked to bring things up from her and dad's past. Whenever my brothers or I would ask to hear stories from when they were young but both of them would always tense up and change the subjects. By the time we were old enough to understand we would stop asking.
"Ah, they haven't," he smirks, walking a bit closer to me, then circling me slowly.
He stops and stands behind, brushing my hair behind my ear. Ethan leans down right next to my ear, his hot breath fans across the side of my face as he chuckles. "I'll tell you the story another time," he smirks.
I furrow my brows and go to turn to face him but something sharp pierces the side of my neck, I slap my hand up to my neck and turn to face Ethan. He smiles and waves at me, syringe in his other hand, I try to lunge at him but the world falls sideways as colourful dots cloud my vision.
