I felt the tears stream down my burning cheeks. I went to wipe one away as I walked down the abandoned road.
I had finally made it to the main road in the center of town after walking for about ten minutes. Maybe more, I couldn't tell, I was crying the entire time. I just walked forward and never looked back.
Suddenly I felt my phone vibrate. It was my sister...
I picked it up. "You know you're coming back, you always do. And when you do, you're never leaving this place." She said to me. I took a deep breath. "I'm not coming back." I said sternly. She just laughed. "Okay, but just know that Aunt Marline and Dad are very upset. Crying even. They don't know what they did." She said. "All the more reason to stay away." I said. "You're going to be back by 11 o'clock tonight, got it?" She said getting mad. "Do you hear me?" She yelled. "Loud and clear sis, but I don't think you hear me." I started. "I. am. not. coming. back, ever. I'm not putting up with this... this abuse. No. I'm stronger now, I understand that the only person keeping me from leaving is me. You are all dead to me. So goodbye Alyssa, forever." And with that I hung up.I sit there on the bench waiting for a taxi to come by... I'd been waiting here for a while.
Listening to conversations as happy friends or families walk by. Sitting alone was never a good thing for me. I got to thinking over my life. I realize now that I'm all on my own. I have nowhere to go, nowhere to stay, and nobody to turn to. Everybody in this screwed up family is a drunk. Half of them have died from overdose and the other half have died of suicide or depression. All there is left is us four. But now I'm gone. So it's just them. I'm no longer part of that family, I don't want anything to do with them, and when they end up like the others, I am not going to their funeral. I'd be surprised if they even had a funeral. They spend all their money on alcohol, their going to end up with nothing left. nothing but the clothes on their backs and a bottle of tequila. They'll call and ask for help and I will not be there, sounds cruel, I know... but when you've been through as much mental pain as I have, you would understand. Finally I see a bright yellow car with a sign on top that says 'TAXI' I run over to the side of the road and yell. "Taxi!"
It pulls over and I sigh happily. I pull out two twenty dollar bills and get in the car. "Take me to the nearest hotel please..." I say politely. "Sure thing" The woman says to me. I smile slightly at her politeness. "Hun, you do realize that's about four towns over, it's in the big city." I know that, we are close to Boston, so I just nod. "I know, how much do you think it'll cost?" I ask. Just making sure I have enough money. "About forty dollars." She says after thinking. "That's fine." She smiles and nods as I buckle up. She pulls out and we are on our way. After about ten minutes of driving I feel a wave of fatigue wash over me. I feel my eyes close shut.
When I wake up, I look at my phone. 4:30PM. I look up at the roads, completely empty. I'm not surprised, it's a Wednesday and people don't usually get out of work until about 5:00. We hit just in time. Suddenly though I see a large black RV looking thing up ahead. When we get closer I see the symbol for my most favorite band. Black Veil Brides. I read in my head. I am mentally freaking out.
"Stop!" I screamed, "Stop the car! Please," It sounded like I was being murdered I was screaming so loud. I felt the jolt forward as the car skidded to a stop. I sighed in relief but then ran out of the car.
"Do you need some help?" I asked. The figure standing in front of me was tall figure with black hair. I hoped it was who I think it was. When he turned around I saw his face and tried to hold back the smile.
It was Andy Fucking Biersack.
"Not unless you know how to fix a gas leak." He said in his deep voice. It was nicer sounding in person. I laughed. "Well, I do, but I don't believe we have the parts to fix it..." He smiled at me, I just looked down at the ground. "Would you like to use my phone?" I asked. "Well, what we could really use is a lift." I look over at my taxi. "Well, I suppose we could share a taxi, if that's alright with you." I tried to keep the happiness of the idea to myself, it was very hard.
"Sure!" He said smiling still. "Where are you headed?" He asked."Boston." I said bleakly. "Perfect, we are too." He said happily.
Suddenly I hear a voice from the other end of the vehicle. "Andy! Did you figure out what ha-" He was cut off. I look at him and smile sheepishly and wave slightly. It was CC! I take a deep breath and speak. "You guys have a gas leak, unfortunately, I don't come with my own tool kit and spare parts so Andy and I were talking about how you guys are probably going to share a cab with me" Andy smiled and CC laughed. "Well then, I'll go get the guys and we can get to the Taxi." He adds.As we all pile into the cab the driver looks at me with a strange look. "I picked up some visitors along the way!" I said jokingly. "Is it okay if they ride with me?" She smiled and nodded. "I think I know who these 'visitors' are... I happen to be a fan." She says.
I'm not surprised, she has black straightened hair with three peircings, a nose ring, and a ring on her eyebrow along with snake bites. "That's awesome to hear" Ashley says. I smile at his voice.
Finally the car starts to go again and we continue our ride. I had to stop myself from smiling the entire time. I was fairly pleased with the seating arrangements. I was sitting up against the door to the right, Andy was next to me, CC was squished in between Andy and Jake, Jinxx was up against the door and Ashley got the passenger seat in the front.
I tried keeping my wrists out from in between anything cause they still were cut and raw. I managed to keep them close to my ribs and away from anything that could hit them.
"So, what's your name?" Ashley asked, I jumped at the sudden noise. "Hannah," I said smiling. "Nice to meet you Hannah, got a last name?" I sighed. "For the time being, I think I'm just going to go by Hannah." I heard a small chuckle come from everyone. "And why is that?" He asked me again. "Long and horrible story..." I said simply.
After that awkward answer I gave them, I decided to mess with them and see if they'd fall for it. "So, um... can I ask you guys something?" I said quietly. "Sure," Andy said. He looked at me in the eyes, I looked away fast. "Who are you?" I asked. All of their faces went blank. I held back a smile and tried to look clueless. "What?"
I asked. "You don't know who we are?" CC asked. I shook my head and laughed. "Wait! Can I guess?" I tried to hold back my laughter. "You're Maroon 5! Right?" They all looked at me in shock but I finally let it all out and burst into laughter. "I'm just joking! I know who you are! You're Black Veil Brides!" They all smiled at me in relief, Andy's smile shone the brightest. "Phew! You almost got me!" CC said. "Almost!" I said unbelieving, "You should've seen your faces!" I said still giggling. "I love you guys, as a band..." I added. "Of course I know who you are!"
Things finally got less tense after that. After about an hour of random chit chat we got to the hotel. I paid the lady and walked away. The guys where standing by a bush outside my hotel. "So, um... I guess this is goodbye." I said.
I then realized that it was over. My one time of happiness in my entire life, gone. It was a good run. "No. it's never goodbye." Andy said. "We're staying here too." he added. I smiled. "What?" My heart started pounding. "Would you like to share a room?" CC asked me. I looked at the guys and they nodded. "Hum let me think YES!" I said. "Thank you!" I gushed. As we walked into the hotel I felt a sharp pain in my wrist, I stopped to look at it and fell behind the group. It was red and swollen, it looked like it needed some peroxide and a bandage. I put my sleeve over it and hoped for the best. I looked up from my arm to see them already at the check in desk.
The hotel was nicer than I have ever seen. I've been to a lot of hotels since my, Dad? no... Father? no... guardian?... no again. Thing. could never afford a house. This is what he could afford, some nights at a hotel others at some strangers house. it was a difficult time, but it was normal to me. When you are young and your mother is hardly ever around because she left, well, that's just what becomes normal.I walk up to the guys and Andy turns around with 6 keys and hands all of us one and keeping one for himself. I look at the number on it, it says Room 226. I know that that would be on the third floor so I went to the elevator and pushed the button. I waited for the doors to open, luckily as soon as the guys where over to me the door had opened.
We went in the elevator and to our room chatting away. But when we got there all I heard was "I call this room!" and "Dibs on that!" I chose last, I didn't mind not being apart of the war between the guys... it looked like Andy was doing the same thing.
We just laughed as they acted childish as they did to get the better bed.
Finally it was all settled and I got the bed in the living room.
The sofa unfolded into a bed that was surprisingly comfortable, and already made up, so I just unfolded it and plopped myself down.
I lay there for a second trying to inhale everything that has happened in the past few hours.This. Is. Insane.
