As the elevator finally reaches the top, you could sense the familiar feeling of the butterfly effect in our stomach. Looking around you, you see the crowd shouting and clapping their hands as they anticipate your fight against Grace. You looked over to Grace, and you could also sense that she's feeling the same.

Y/N: Nervous, are we?

Grace: (Sigh) Yep.

Y/N: Same here. May the best fighter win.

Grace: May the best fighter win.

You then took a few steps away from Grace, and she does the same. Overhead, you could hear Professor Port and Doctor Oobleck commentating over.

Port: (Over the Speakers) And we're back from our break! Our contestants have arrived and I can sense that they are ready to fight!

Oobleck: (Over the Speakers) The fight between Grace of Atlas Academy up against Y/N of Beacon Academy! Ooh, this oughta be a good one!

Port: (Over the Speakers) So Barty, what do you think this fight will come down to?

Oobleck: (Over the Speakers) It's obviously going to come down to who wants this win more. These two are fighting for a singular point in the bracket standings, with Y/N needing a singular point and Grace needing 3 points. Grace needs this win more, so I'm going to say that she has the upper hand.

Port: (Over the Speakers) Well said. Who do you think has the advantage in terms of raw skill?

Oobleck: (Over the Speakers) I'll have to say that this will be an even fight! Y/N prioritizes his close-range combat over his long-range, while Grace is the exact opposite. It will come down to who can exploit each other's weaknesses.

Port: (Over the Speakers) Again, well said.

As the 2 announcers buzz in the background, you and Grace were staring each other down. The intensity oozes out of the two of you, signaling that you both wanted the win as badly.

Y/N: ...

Grace: ...

No words were said, but you two already knew what each other was thinking. Before long, silence beckons the arena, creating tension so indescribable.

Y/N: Grr...

Grace: Hmm...

And suddenly, you hear the countdown buzzer start to sound.

Port: (Over the Speakers) And it's time! Let the final match of the 1st stage begin, in 5!

4!

3!

2!

1!

BEGIN!!!

At the count, the two of you immediately bring out your respective weapons. You brought out your sword, but what surprised you is that Grace is starting out with her dagger instead of her dual machine-gun pistols.

Y/N: That's odd... What's she planning?

Thinking this is your time to strike, you dashed at Grace, sword at the ready. You then swing your sword, to which Grace jumps back. Not letting up so easily, you continue to slash and strike at her, to which Grace manages to dodge it all with precise movement.

Eventually, she blocks your strike with her dagger, to which she starts her offense by quick flicks of her wrists. You try to block, but she maneuvers around you and manages to get 3 slashes in before you finally retreated back. However, she doesn't stop and continues to dash at you, forcing you to dodge. However, with her dexterity, you just barely dodge out of the way of some strikes. But, you were starting to feel the wear and tear of moving, and Grace notices this.
