The food the boys provided was surprisingly edible. I mean, it’s not the best thing I’ve eaten, but it could be worse. After dinner, everyone decided to go to bed. The long day had made everyone pumped out. The boys slept in their beds and Peter had his own captain’s quarters. As for me, Peter ordered the boys to move one of the spare beds into his room. “I’m...I’m sleeping in your room?” I asked. “Trust me, you don’t wanna be in the same room as them when they sleep, they’re animals.” Peter responded as he gave me a sly look.
When I fell into my bed, I was swallowed then spit out. The bed was so jumpy and squirmy that it took a while for it to stop moving. I tried to get out of the comfortable monster, but it resisted and I fell back down. “Peter, what on Earth is this sorcery?” I asked in distress. “It’s a waterbed with water straight from the ocean.” With that, I sat up, pulled out the covers, and unveiled the water that was being squashed under my body. “No way! I love these things!” I added as I played with the bed.
“Well, I’m gonna go to sleep now, sweet dreams Stephanie,” Peter yawned. “Goodnight Pe…” I replied, but I was too late. Peter was already sound asleep, and he was quite adorable too. I know it seems really creepy, but he was just so cute! I layed back in bed and slowly went to sleep. However, I couldn’t really go to sleep. I had so many thoughts just racing through my mind. How was I going to get back home? I wonder what my family is doing, are they on an all-out police search? What about school, how much make-up work am I going to get? Are my friends I left behind worrying about me?
The curiosity was eating me from the inside and just couldn’t go to sleep. I decided to go outside to get some fresh air. However, who knew what would happen to me, I could get jumped by those terrible pirates! So, I decided to go out there, armed. I didn’t have any weapons on me though, I wish I had my Swiss Army knife. “Quick Stephanie, think!” I whispered to myself. Just then, the reflection of a candle light caught my eye. Next to Peter’s bed was a sharp pocket knife on a wooden bedside table.
I quietly got out of bed, grabbed the knife, and made my way out of there. However, I clumsily tripped over myself and made a sudden thud. “SHIT!” I frightfully whispered as I layed on the ground. I didn’t move at all and prayed that Peter wasn’t awake. To a surprise, I didn’t wake him up, he must’ve been a heavy sleeper. With that, I shimmied my way out of the room to safety. I sneaked my way past the boys and made it softly out of the hideout.
Peter was right about the boys, they were pretty loud snorers. Good thing I didn’t have to sleep next to them! As I got outside, I found a nice log and sat on it. Though, it was freezing out here! I hugged at myself for warmth, but it was no use. I soonly regretted the decision of coming out here and headed back inside...Until, I heard the sharp crack of a broken twig. I jumped and drew out the knife, holding it in front of me as if it was a gun. “Who...who’s out there? Show yourself!” I begged as my teeth chattered.
Instantly, I knew who the intruder was, it was no other than the mischievous Felix. Felix flew his hands up in surrender and started to walk up to me. I gently drew the knife down and placed it into my nearest pocket. “Is this how you treat everyone, Stephanie?” Felix nagged as he playfully smiled. I couldn’t help but smile back. “Well, I thought you were a pirate! What else was I supposed to do?” I accusingly asked.
Felix laughed and smiled once again, “You should’ve seen the look on your face though.” I smiled again and shyly looked down. I could feel my face tense up, “Well, what are you doing out here anyway?” Before Felix could answer, he gathered a few sticks and laid them on the ground in the center of where we were. He grabbed two of the sticks and rubbed them quickly together thus, making a fire.
With that, I instantly sat close to the fire with my arms out in front of me, I started to feel my fingers. “I knew you were cold with those thin clothes,” Felix said as he motioned to my pajamas. Then, he sat close to the fire right next to me. He pulled out what appeared to be one of the wooden sticks and started carving it into a spear with a knife. “To be honest, I just didn’t feel like going to sleep.”
He didn’t feel like going to sleep? So strange… “Let me guess, you couldn’t go to sleep?” Felix asked as he blew the remains of wood off his newly made spear. I stopped and looked at him curiously. “Yeah, how did you know?” He faltered and said, “Everyone that’s new to the island has a rough time the first night, even Pan did.” Peter too? For the next few minutes, we just sat there staring nonchalantly into the fire. Then, Felix broke the silence. “So, I see you got Peter’s knife there.”
I automatically grew stiff and my words stumbled. “Uh um yeah, I kinda just took it as you know, self-defense.” He looked me in the eyes and smiled. “Well, you better return that to him. Peter doesn’t like it when people take his things without asking.” I gritted my teeth and said, “I mean, I wasn’t going to keep it. I’ll give it back to him.”
“Don’t worry, I don’t think he’ll mind that you took it,” Felix roguishly claimed. “What do you mean?” I questioned as I gave him a Luigi death stare with a smile. “Isn’t it obvious? He’s acts strange around you, more gentlemen-like. I’m not the only one that sees it, I talked to Devin about it yesterday,” Felix said in one breath. Peter, acting civilized? I shook my head and said, “Maybe, it’s because I’m a girl.” Felix just gave me a look of disapproval, “There was a girl that came before you, and Peter acted up like this. But this time, it’s more obvious. Like, he’s determined to get what he wants… Do you know what I mean?”
I really didn’t know how to react to this, “I guess, I mean I haven’t noticed anything strange about Peter.” After a few more minutes, I yawned and placed my head on Felix’s shoulder. I looked up at him and gave him one of my peachy smiles. “I’m really tired, do you mind if I sleep on your shoulder? I mean, I’m kinda too lazy to sneak back in there.” Felix nodded and gave me the ‘okay’ look. “Just, take what I said into consideration. Try to observe Peter, watch how he acts around you. Most importantly, don’t try any stupid tricks.” I sat up and gave him a ‘no comprendo’ look.
“Peter Pan never fails,” Felix intoned. With that, I laid back down onto Felix’s shoulder and wrapped my arms around his’s for warmth, I was still pretty cold. “Still cold?” Felix asked. I nodded my head and shivered. Just then, he took off his blackish/brownish Assassin’s Creed hoodie and gave it to me. I threw it over myself and flipped the hoodie onto my head giving me an extra sweggy look. “Thanks Felix,” I said quietly as I laid my head back onto Felix’s shoulder. “No problem, goodnight Stephanie,” Felix wished. “Goodnight *yawn* Felix,” I responded as I was suddenly knocked-out cold by sleep deprivation.
