"How long do you think it'll be before the next monster shows up?" Kai asked Alaric and Hope, as the trio stood in his office. The only reason the three of them were awake was because none of them could sleep, they were too worried about the next monster showing up at the school. Well, Kaiden was more so worried Hope would do something suicidal or stupid, and he didn't like the odds of that.
"It's hard to say. I've never actually seen an artifact glow before. Where did you hide the urn, by the way?" Alaric asked Hope, the only person who knew where the urn was.
"I'm not sure I should tell you," Hope responded.
"Excuse me?"
"Isn't it safer if only one of us knows where it is?"
"Then that one of us should be the adult."
"Funny, because I thought it should be the one of us with high-level superpowers."
"Wait a second one of you two?"
"Oh trust me, I've been trying to get her to tell me where she put it, but she just won't tell me," Kai said, answering Alaric's question, "She's a great secret keeper."
"Ah," Alaric said. He was confused as to what the hell was happening between the two teenagers. Just last week they had been at each other's throats but after they had been kicked out of the hotel room something changed between them.
"What do we tell everyone else?" The Mikaelson girl asked.
"We should probably warn them before a cyclops crashes exam week. It's usually best to start with some form of the truth," Kaiden joked.
"What about those times the truth is the one thing you can't say?" Hope asked, referring to their situation with Landon.
"Are you sure you two want to keep all of this from Landon? I mean, I understand you want to protect him, but he's been wondering about his mother his whole life," Alaric questioned.
"He finally meets her and then she dies. If we can keep him from knowing what that feels like, then it's worth it."
"Look, it's our secret to keep, Alaric. Please?" Kai pleaded.
"Okay," Alaric said, giving in.
"Thank you."
"The trick is to give everyone the right amount of information without giving away too much. We've been through this before with the knife, so it shouldn't come as too much of a shock. This is our chance to do things differently, more responsibly," Alaric said, answering Hope's question about what they were going to tell everyone else.
