The Graduation List

5 - A School Day

The next day when I wake up to get ready for my morning lecture i'm reminded of the night before when I see my Badgers hoodie where I left it on my desk chair. I decide to wear the sweater to class with a pair of jeans to make a complete outfit. As I make my way to the kitchen I grab my backpack, dropping it by the front door before making a quick breakfast to fuel me through my morning class. A few minutes later my bagel is ready so I grab it in a paper towel before sliding on my shoes and slinging my backpack on my shoulder. Once i'm outside I walk to the nearby bus stop where other students are already waiting for the bus that will take us to campus. 

Once at school I throw out the paper towel I had with my bagel at the nearest trash can before entering the building where I have my lecture. I sit on a bench outside of the right room realizing that i'm early. I pull out my phone and connect my earbuds, tucking them into my ears as I get lost in the music. A hand comes to my shoulder making me jump in surprise, I pull out my earbuds when I see that it's Liz, a girl that sits with me in this lecture. "Sorry for scaring you" I wave her off, "no biggie it happens all the time" she smiles before sitting next to me to wait for the earlier lecture to finish. "How was your night yesterday?" I smile just thinking about Eli, "it was good I went and saw a men's hockey game with my roommates" she tilts her head confused, "you're into sports?" I laugh, "usually not, but I made this graduation list thing and one of things is to go to sporting events" she nods, "that's pretty cool, and a decent idea" I shrug, "I figured I should change it up in this last year" Liz smiles. Students start to file out of the lecture hall so the two of us stand up preparing to go into the room.

Two hours later we walk out of the lecture hall, I let out a yawn covering my open mouth with a hand, "that's a mood" Liz exclaims, I laugh, "yeah, it was a late night yesterday" I reply as we walk towards the exit of the building. When we get outside my phone vibrates, I slip my phone out of my pocket to see a text message from Gwen,

G: Party tmr night, shopping after class to get outfits?

I groan realizing that I totally forgot about the party that Graham told us about that's tomorrow. "What's wrong?" I look over at Liz, "another thing on my list is go to a party, well i'm doing that tomorrow night and my roommate just reminded me" she cringes, "i'm sure it's going to be fun, right?" I shrug, "no idea i've never been to any" she laughs and I look back down at my phone to reply.

A: I completely forgot, but yes i'm in, I need something new to commemorate this moment

G: yas girl!

I roll my eyes knowing how excited she gets when shopping is involved. "I gotta go this way" I look up at Liz with a smile, "okay see you next week" she nods before walking away. I continue walking towards the bus stop where I wait for the bus that will take me back home.

At the house I find all of my roommates in the kitchen doing various things with music playing and laughter bouncing around the room. "Wow what a great party" I yell over the music, all three of my friends turn to me smiling, Gwen comes to me and drags me over to whatever they're doing, "were making cookies, Emily had an urge to make them so we're all helping". I drop my things by the couch before bunching up my sleeves, "what do you need me to do?" Emily gives me a rolling pin, "roll out the dough so that we can cut out some cookies" I nod and do as she requests. "So how are things with Eli?" Sierra asks as she comes over to me, "good I guess, nothing has happened since last night" I reply as I focus on rolling out the dough evenly, "he seems like a good guy A, I hope something good comes out of this for you" I nod, "I hope so too, but it's way too early to even know IF something will even happen"she scoffs, "from what I saw last night that guy definitely likes you, I mean guys don't just go around kissing all girls on their cheeks" I smile at the memory, "we'll see what happens once we have that first date".

That evening me and Gwen find ourselves at the mall near our house scouring the stores we love for outfits to wear to the frat party tomorrow. When we step into Macy's my yes zero in on a sequin tank top not too far away, I grin and tug Gwen towards the rack. "That's so cute! you need to get it!" she exclaims as I grab my size holding it up against my body, "it would be perfect with some ripped jeans and a leather jacket" she nods before we move on through the juniors department to try and find something for her. The blond squeals making me look to where her gaze is locked, Gwen runs and I follow her to a rack where she pulls a red body con dress off of it, "yes, that's the one!" she grins as she holds it up in front of herself, "I love it" I nod and we make our way to the nearby checkout desk.
