The treehouse of all my nightmares stood before me. The rope ladder swung wildly as the storm increased, rain steadily coming down in downpours. My hood was up as I stared up at the bottom of the treehouse.
I watched as the door swung open, the sound echoing through the quiet forest. My que to start climbing the rope ladder. I stepped forward, lifting a leg to test the crickety rope ladder. It didn't creak and didn't give into the weight of my foot. It was brand new, definitely for the safety of whoever was up in this tree house. Pushing aside all my fears and urges to run away and call the police, I pushed forward and climbed my way up the rope ladder.
I pushed myself up into the small room, immediately seeing both Armin and Levi tied up in a corner and knocked out. I quickly got out of the hole and rushed to the two boys, making sure they are okay. Both of their ankles and wrists tied together by rope and ducktape, a tight cloth wrapped around their mouths to prevent them from speaking.
Levi's hair was messed up, parts of his hair getting in front of his closed eyes. He looked in pain, even though he was unconscious. A simple black hoodie and tight jeans adorned his body, making him look a little more comfortable. Armin laid next to him, his blonde moppy hair swirling around his face. His head rested against Levi's chest as though Levi was trying to protect the child. I watched as their chests rose up and down, a wave of relief flashed before me. I quickly took off the cloth around their mouths. They are alive, thank God they are alive.
"Glad you are here..." A voice said from behind me. I jumped up, standing in a defensive pose in front of the boys behind me. I have to make sure they don't get hurt. The person behind me wore all black, a hood and a mask covered his face to keep me from seeing his features. Even though it took me quite some time, I finally figured out who this man is. My sister's killer and the kidnapper of my child and possible future boyfriend.
"Yes I am...Grisha Jaeger," I snarled out, taking a small step towards the man. The man gave a cold laugh before ripping off the hood and mask, everything becoming even more clear than before. This man is Grisha Jaeger, just as I had suspected.
"You were always a smart kid, Eren." My father remarked, shoving his hands into the pockets of the cloak that adorned him. He wore all black, yet the glasses that sat on his face made his aura awful. "But never smart enough for my liking."
"Glad you haven't changed; still expecting me to be just like you in every way possible. News flash: I'm not. Get over yourself and untie Levi and Armin!" I demanded, putting one hand into my pocket and touching the cool exterior of the pocket knife.
"I'm sure you've figured out everything. Why not inform your little boy toy over there," Grisha said, pointing nonchalantly towards Levi and Armin. I turned around as Levi groaned, obviously in pain but waking up.
I crouched down once more, clasping his face in my hands. It felt so unbelievably cold compared to how Armin felt. I watched as Levi fluttered his eyes open, his black hair still laying over his eyes.
"Levi!" I exclaimed, leaning my head forward and trying hug him as best as I could. Levi groaned and coughed in response, making me feel uneasy.
"Eren...you found me..." He whispered out, voice groggy from sleep and pain. He shuffled about under my weight, almost urging me to get off of him. I obliged but still held only his face. He didn't seem to mind as he leaned towards the warmth of my hands.
"I always will, no matter what," I responded in a hushed tone, trying to keep Grisha from hearing our sentiments.
"How disgusting, two people in love. Are you not going to ask me what's wrong with poor little Levi?" He mocked a sad tone, casting a glare in my direction.
"Don't need to. This is exactly what happened to Mikasa before you killed her in cold blood. You poisoned Levi with Serine!" I exclaimed, standing up again and confronting my father.
"I guess you have gotten much smarter. Doesn't matter, won't give you the antidote until you tell me everything you know," he said, taking a step towards me. I stepped back, trying to keep Armin and Levi behind me in an attempt to save them.
"Once I saw your letters I finally figured it all out. Back when Mikasa was still alive you found out that mum had cheated on you with the neighbour down the street. You were furious, telling mum she had to get rid of the child. She refused, opting for putting her up for adoption and keeping an eye on her instead. You two had me two years later, probably out of you raping my mother than your of love. But mother still loved me just the same. You two adopted Mikasa a few years later, but you never knew she was the child mother bore in her stomach all those years ago.
"Once you found out you became furious. A raging drunkard out for cold blooded revenge. So late one night, when we were at camp, you drove your sorry ass all the way out here and poisoned her with a high dosage of arsenic. She complained of stomach pains, almost throwing up, and her skin was becoming discoloured. But we still went out to this tree house that night to try and make sure she was okay. You stole her and killed Mikasa later that night, taking her stomach and intestines with you to ensure no one knew she was badly poisoned. Only you could get the Serine; you are a well known doctor and Biochemist after all.
"And to top it all off, mother found out about what you did. Threatened to call the police. It was the worst night of my childhood as I watched you hit and almost kill my mother, your wife at the time. Till death do us part taken literally. Either way, you kept tabs on me because I am your blood. Your only son. You heard I was coming back to figure things out, so you planted little hints and clues. All the notes spread conveniently over the camp. The black roses. Even when you highlighted the names of Mikasa's parents on her profile in the camp. It never even stated she was adopted, but merely my biological sister. So there, all the information I know. Now untie Levi and Armin!"
The small treehouse became silent as Grisha looked at me in disbelief. He may have believed I was some stupid teen, but he would no longer think that. I had been putting too many things together for Grisha to back down now. He was her killer and he is going to jail because of it. He just stared into my eyes, fear evident in his expression and movements.
But in a quick flash he was over to where I stood, a knife now implanted deep into my torso. I gasped out, blood spitting out of my mouth and landing on Grisha's glasses.
"Good job, son. You figured out everything. Now all three of you will die for knowing the truth! I will get away with, you will not meddle in my business any longer," he stated, twisting the knife and pulling it out. I sank to my knees, blood staining my shirt and the ground.
"EREN!" Levi yelled, trying to get closer to where I sat. I shook my head, gripping my wound with one hand and my pocket knife with another.
I was not going to let Grisha kill any one else.
