-Jasmine's POV-

"Ricky, I have to give Nini my spot. It makes no sense for me to play Gabriella. She's way more talented than me and you need to win her back,"I argued, sitting down on Ricky's bed.

We had just come back from school, and Ricky invited me to his house to watch movies. He was still shocked he got the part of Troy, and I argued on the whole way to his house that I should just quit the play.

Ricky sighed, sitting across from me. "Jas, you deserve it. You're incredibly talented, and you killed the audition. Ms. Jenn would be crazy not to cast you as the lead."

I pouted. "You're too sweet. But seriously, the whole plan was for you and Nini to be Troy and Gabriella. This ruins everything."

"Not really. I'm still going to see her all the time, but I don't even think she wants to have me around so who knows how that will go."

"Everything's going to work out, Ricky. But I seriously think I should switch roles with Nini,"I insisted.

Ricky chuckled and took my hands into his. He looked into my eyes and said,"You deserve the role of Gabriella and I am honoured to be the lead with you."

I blushed and pulled my hands away. "Are you sure? I've never even been in a proper play so this is cool, but I don't know if it's for me."

He smiled,"Yes, I'm sure you'll be amazing. Don't underestimate yourself. I'm the one we should be worried about. I have no idea how I'm going to do this."

We spent the night watching movies and eating a ton of food before I went home. I told Dad all about the audition, and he was absolutely thrilled. He's always so supportive with everything I do.

The next day at school, I started getting nervous about the whole musical thing. Nini was giving me dirty looks all day, and it didn't help that EJ was openly talking about how Nini deserved to play Gabriella.

At lunch, I sat with Ricky and Red in the cafeteria. "Guys, I feel like everyone's talking about me. I don't like it,"I frowned.

Red replied,"It's okay, they're just jealous of you."

"Nini and EJ have literally been glaring at me all day. Should I go talk to them and try to be nice?"I asked.

Ricky choked on the water he was drinking. "No, absolutely not,"he said quickly.

"Why not?"

"I don't want you to get caught up in all that drama. Kourtney would literally fight you,"he explained.

Red nodded in agreement. "She's feisty."

As I had just finished eating, a girl came and sat beside me. "Hi, I'm Gina,"she smiled at me. She looked at Ricky and Red, but then turned her attention back to me.

"Hi, I'm Jasmine. You're in the musical too, right?"I asked. I recognized her from the audition.

"Yeah, I'm playing Taylor. I just wanted to come introduce myself because I'm new here,"she said.

I nodded,"Yeah, me too. I feel ya."

Gina laughed lightly. "Well, I should get going, but I'll see you in rehearsal."

"Yeah, nice to meet you,"I said before she got up and walked away. I turned to Ricky and Red. "Aw, she was so nice."

Red scoffed. "She didn't even say hi to us."

Ricky nodded,"Literally ignored us."

I shrugged,"Maybe she's just more comfortable introducing herself to girls. I know what it feels like to be new and constantly introducing myself. It's tough."
