18 years old.Today's my birthday and already I've been bombarded by birthday wishes from my mom and everyone else, when I mean everyone else , it includes Fiona and Candy, who's presents I've received early in the morning, including their phone numbers, email addresses and social media contacts.
I swear when they got the news of me finally having a phone, it was like I won a million dollars or something, they were already making plans for updating me on the 21 century, and me being out there, though I've warned them countless times to not even dare try.
I can't believe I've finally reached this age and am able to make enough decisions of my life, not that I will go clubbing and acting wild ,no, but being this age shows that I've grown and that my mom, might start viewing me more as a young woman than her baby girl.
Looking ahead at the ocean and admiring it , as the sun takes its place, just the sound of the water, a few people already making their way to the beach while surfers get ready to play, here I am , in my sundress with that same purple bikini underneath, ready to be soaked wet ,while I on the other hand am not.
I just want to absorb this moment before things turn crazy with more people crowding the place.
Admiration fills me at how easy going, the water is moving, falling into a rhythmic movement and seeming to provide, sounds of enchanting melodies. Nothing could top this moment, I can definitely say, this right here is a good birthday moment, being at a place of beauty, sitting in contentment and letting everything be a distant memory yet appreciating what a day could bring.
My hands slowly move on the sand, taking it fully and then releasing it, letting it slip through my fingers. A small smile forms on my face at how relaxing this is, I can't seem to think of something better then this, right here.
"Nice view." A voice says.
I freeze for a second, not quite sure if I heard right or it's my imagination playing with me.
" Cool place even." Okay, it's not my imagination.
My head whips over my shoulder and my eyes widen at what I see, well more like who I see standing behind me, with a smirk on his face.
I turn to look at the sea, taking a breath before rising to my feet and facing him. I have no words as I'm quite surprised to see him standing in front of me, when I thought I'd never see him again.
" Hello to you too," he says, teasing me and causing me to blush in embarrassment, for me standing like a gawking cartoon.
"Hi." I finally word out, avoiding his eyes.
I feel him move closer to me and I'm too rooted in the sand, to actually move back. When small space is left between us, he tilts my chin up so I'm looking at him. No more smirk is on his face but a serious one at that.
Before I know it, his lips are on mine.
I close my eyes at that moment and familiarize myself once again, of this toe curling feeling. His lips linger against mine and I appreciate this, wanting this moment to last and sow itself in mind and my now reality, that he is actually here.
" Next time you call, at least inform them that my girlfriend is calling, " he says against my lips.
I pull back where his hand falls limply to his side.
" I thought we agreed on no labels." I say, peering up at him, his piercing green eyes already on me.
Whew, so he's still mine.
" Well that was before I got fan girl messages for my songs about my baby girl."
I turn around to face the beach again and this time, he stands next to me, but way too close.
" So you sing now, one less thing I don't know about you." I say, looking the other way.
" There's a lot you can do with the matters of the heart." I smirk at his cheesiness.
Peering up at him from under my lashes, I see him looking ahead." There you go again with your cheesiness." I say.
A small smile creeps its way onto his face. I glance over my shoulder, just to see my mom and Vicky pretending to not be spying on us , right at the beach house.
" I think some of that cheesiness might work on your fan girls." I say, looking back to Connor who glances at me before he looks ahead again.
" I think I'd prefer one fan girl in particular."
" I don't know, with all that glass breaking, I think I might need medical attention from it."
" You'll be quite surprised at what these pipes can hold," he says.
Okay, I can't bear this any longer.
I move my hand closer to his, entwining my fingers with his, his breath hitches at the contact just when tightens the hold.
" More than the heart?" I ask.
" Nope," he says, popping the p, he then places a kiss on my hand, making me smile.
Silence stretches out between us and I welcome it, smiling giddily at how my heart won such a great prize.
" Happy birthday," he says and I squeeze his hand in response.
Silence again.
"So, I was thinking." He starts.
"Hmm."
" How do you feel about Amsterdam? " My heart quickens at this question.
" Is there scrapbooking involved?" I ask.
He shoots me an award winning grin." A lot, guess the last pics we took weren't enough," he says shrugging.
" Well I guess we've got a mission on our hands."
" Yeah I guess so, especially if we are meant to be on our way tomorrow morning. "
The excitement is too much for me and now I'm grinning from ear to ear.
I turn to face him." You know, we can't just up and leave without actually finishing what we never started."
"Oh?" He quirks his brows.
" Yeah, especially now that we're here, and the day won't allow for my purple suit to go on dry."
With a knowing smile, I know that he has caught on to what I'm saying.
We look at each other for a bit, before I break contact and start running towards the water.
"Do I at least get time to go change?!"
" No, time is of the essence! " I shout back, laughing my head off at him scrunching his nose at me.
Before I know it, he's already joined me and we are basically acting like two dorks.
Nothing could have prepared me for this, but I'm glad, no I'm happy things turned out the way they did.
I know I'll keep on saying this, that moments come and moments go, only this time, my moment is right now and it's only the beginning of me living.
The End.
