September 17, 1975The soft 'pit pat' of the two pairs of feet on the stone walkway fill the quiet air. The park is almost empty. Only a few elderly couples and some mothers with their restless children. The warm morning air fills the young pair of friends lungs.
They were both 15 at the time, not fully understanding what love was and that they were in it.
The dry stone concrete turns to a more wet and mossy pathway of stone tiles. The tiles were smooth but cracked.
The pathway led to a beautiful wishing well. The well looked like it hadn't been visited in years, it was covered with moss and vines. Even then, it looked absolutely stunning. Some flowers were growing around the well, some blue and some a lovely pink color.
Ezra pulled out two coins from his pocket. Though he didn't earn them. He found them on the concrete while walking to the park the other day. Ezra looked at the coins and grabbed one, placing it in the palm of your hand.
"Make a wish!", he grinned brightly, the sun reflecting off his dark hair beautifully. Ezra's hair was pulled back into a loose man bun, using one of the hair ties you gave him because his mother's hair was too short to be put up and she didn't carry any hair ties.
His hazel eyes glistened in the bright sun. He looked absolutely perfect. You laughed at his excitement and flipped the coin into the well, the soft 'splash' of the coin filling the quiet space around you. You did remember to make a wish. You look over at Ezra. His eyes were closed and his long eyelashes were fluttering slightly. He opens his eyes suddenly and flips the coin in, 'Splash!'.
"What did you wish for.", you ask him.
He hesitates before speaking,
"A sandwich, kinda hungry.", he says with a serious look on his face. You punch his shoulder slightly.
"Let's go get food at the diner then. Though, we have to come back here, it's absolutely stunning and would be a waste if not.", you say, your eyes glistening while looking around.
"Alright we will. Might have to clean up a bit though. Trim the vines and cut the grass, and maybe put some seats here. Though I don't think we should get rid of the vines, I quite like them.", he replies.
"As do I. Now let's go I'm starving.", you say before running down the path.
"Hey wait up!"
You eventually come back more and more. Cleaning up the place and adding benches to sit on. Still nobody knew about it, and you would like to keep it that way. Eventually the years pass. Growing older and eventually having to leave to go to college, though you promise to meet here every break you get. And you do just that. One day you show up to a bouquet of freshly picked flowers and a curly headed boy with a picnic basket. That was the day he asked you to be his girlfriend.

You are now both sixty, sitting down on the same bench as you did forty-five years ago. You are both married now, things in the world have changed, but the water fountains secret still stayed. Nobody has been here as far as you could tell, but if they were, they were also cautious of its beauty.
"Do you remember our first time here? When we made those wishes and I told you mine was for a sandwich?", he asks and you nod slowly, gripping his hand.
"Well I didn't actually wish for a sandwich, though I was hungry. I wished for something bigger not knowing I'd actually be granted it.", he says looking into your eyes, gripping your hand back.
"I wished for love, and I got it, but I didn't know I have always had it.."
