Ricky's POV

I walked into my house hoping I was alone. My mom was God knows where and my dad well I just was hoping he wasn't home.

My dad wasn't taking the separation from my mom pretty well. He'd recently turn to drinking. And when he drank he got angry and when he got angry he yelled a lot. He hurt my feelings a lot but it's my fault, I just annoy him.

I sighed in relief realizing I was alone. I sat my stuff down in my room before going back to the living room to watch some T.V. After channel surfing I decided on watching Spongebob. I wanted something to make me laugh. My phone started ringing and I looked at the caller ID and saw it was E.J.

"What's up lover?" I asked him when I answered the phone.

"Nothing babe," E.J. said. "I just missed your voice." I giggled when he said that. I loved how much of a romantic sap he was.

"You're so whipped," I told him laughing.

"Why wouldn't I be? I mean I'm dating Ricky Bowen, the amazing, beautiful and talented Ricky Bowen," E.J. told me. I blushed at what he was telling me. Before I could respond I heard a pair of keys in the door, signaling my dad was here.

"I gotta go E.J., my dad just came home" I told him. "I love you."

"I love you too baby boy," E.J. said before hanging up.

"Hey dad," I told my dad as he entered the house. He reeked of alcohol and I could tell he'd been out drinking with his friends. He was stumbling as he walked in. How did he drive home? The world may never know but all I know is it was an unsafe idea.

"Jesus Ricky. Do you ever shut up?" He asked me slurring his words. I looked down embarrassed.

I mumbled out an apology but I don't think my dad heard me. He took off his shoes and sat on the couch. I just stood there not knowing what to do.

"Make yourself useful boy and get me a glass of orange juice," My dad told me. I immediately went to the kitchen to do what he wanted me too. On my way back to the living room I tripped and the glass fell out of my hands, shattering.

"I'm sorry dad," I said afraid that he'd yell at me.

"Oh you will be boy," My dad said getting closer to me. I closed my eyes bracing for the yelling but instead I was met with a slap in the face. I held the side of my face trying not to cry. My dad had never hit me before. Before I could process it I felt a punch in my stomach causing me to double over in pain.

"Now get to your room, I don't want to see you for the rest of the night. Don't even think about sneaking down later for food. You need to lose some weight anyways," My dad told me. I just nodded my head before scurrying off to my room.

When I got to my room I looked at myself in the mirror. I could see a red hand print forming on my cheek. I would definitely need concealer for tomorrow. I looked at my stomach to see if there was any bruising there as well but all I saw was stomach fat. My dad was right I did need to lose weight. Maybe it wouldn't do me any harm in skipping a few meals for a few days. Then I could lose weight and make my dad happy.

I just really hoped it all worked out. I had to please my dad again so he would stop hating me.

The next morning I quickly got ready for school. E.J. wasn't picking me up today because I told him I wanted to skate with Big Red. I met Big Red out on my lawn and the two of skated to school. When I got to school E.J. was waiting for me at my locker. When he saw me come in he smiled brightly.

"Good morning handsome," E.J. told me pressing a quick kiss to my lips.

"Good morning my prince," I told him kissing him again.

Big Red cleared his throat and E.J. and I broke apart. I was blushing super hard.

"Sorry Big Red," I told him. He just laughed and finished putting his stuff in his locker.

"Don't worry I guess, it's not the the worst thing I've seen you too do," Big Red said and I blushed even harder. E.J. and I had a habit of getting caught.

Lunchtime came around and I sat around with my friends laughing and having a good time. I was hungry but I was forcing myself not to eat. I had to lose weight.

"Ricky are you not going to eat," Kourtney asked me from where she was sitting next to Ashlyn. The two had finally began dating after pining after each other for months.

"Nah, I had a huge breakfast," I lied easily.

"Are you sure you don't wanna eat something? Like maybe just a cookie so you don't get hungry later." Gina asked me holding out a cookie she'd brought from home.

"Thanks but no thanks," I told her. The conversation at the table started again and I leaned against E.J.'s shoulder before drifting off into a nap.
