Chapter 26

LEAS P.O.V.

I woke up in the morning, having a headache. It's 12pm, i guess I've slept good but still something was bothering me. I took a shower and put on gym clothes. Before I'd head out, i decided to check my phone. I was scrolling though my messages when i saw a big paragraph received from Nana.

"I can't be like this anymore. Im a horrible person Lea, I've betrayed you. When me and jacob broke up, i was broken. We told FBI agent about you and i feel awful. I don't deserve to live, because of what I've done. I love you and i forgive you everything and im sorry" i read this and at first i thought this was a joke. The message was sent at 8am. This is a joke right? I started calling her, but her phone was off. I started panicking, then i heard a bang at the door.
"Lea, open it's me" i heard mattias voice. I went and instantly opened.

"Did you get a message from nana?" He asked me as soon as i opened the door.

"What do you mean" i asked him in confusion.

"Yesterday, she was with me and then she went home. And today i got a message from her saying that she and that ex boyfriend of hers were talking to FBI about us. And she also texted me that she's sorry and that she doesn't want to live anymore, lea im worried" he said while tears started coming from his eyes. I didn't know what shocked me more, the fact that mattia polibio was crying or that my best friend of many years snitched on me and now she did something to herself.

"Okay, listen, did you call her? Do you know where possibly could she be right now?" I don't even want to think about Nana hurting herself.

"Yes but her phone is off and i just woke up.. and i.. i decided to come to you" he said, while wiping his tears off from his cheeks and looking down.

"Hey, hey listen." I put his face in my hands and made him look into my eyes. "Everything's fine. Nana wouldn't do anything too crazy. We'll find her" i said and smiled, because i hoped that i was saying truth.

We went down to the parking lot as fast as we could and drove to Nanas house. The ride was quiet as always but i knew we both feared what was waiting there for us. But i still couldn't figure out why was mattia so emotional. I was very worried but i had to be stronger in this situation. I know nana, she just had a mental breakdown, that's it.
We broke inside her house and it was completely empty.

"Where could she go? You know her well" mattia told me and i tried to think harder.

"Okay, lets stop being so paranoid. She maybe went to the university? Let's search her there" i said and he nodded. When we started driving the other way, we went past that park where jacob and nana broke up and i noticed 3 different police cars.

"Stop here" i said and got out of the car as soon as i could. There were a lot of police mans, and i tried to get as closer as i could.

As i was getting closer, i saw someone hanging on the tree. when i realised who it was, blood froze inside my veins. Nana. I tried to go closer but police stopped me.

"It's a restricted area, you're not allowed to-"

"We know her" mattia said and policeman let me go.

I went closer, wanted to believe my eyes were lying, that it wasn't her, but she was hanging there, all blue and lifeless.

I froze for a moment.

"No, no, no, no" i said, while tears started dripping down from my eyes. Her pretty face was infront of me, her pretty rosy cheeks had no colour, her pink full lips were blue.

"NO, THERE'S NO WAY IT'S HER" I screamed and fell on my knees in front of her.

"WHY, GOD WHY!" why did she do this to me? Why did she go away? I was ready to forgive her for anything she'd do, even if i died because of her, I'd be happy knowing she was okay. But she died alone, if i fucking woke up when i received the message i could probably save her, i could fucking save her, but i didn't. Fuck it ,i didn't.
