AN: Genevieve and Ashton have had a couple of interviews before this

"Where do you think you're going, miss?"

With a sigh, I turned around to be met by my scowling mother. Her neck was adorned with her usual pearls, and her earlobes hung low with diamond incrusted earrings. She stood stiffly beside my displeased father. "I'm going out." I stated with a raised eyebrow. "You know that I'm doing an interview for my English class."

My mother sighed, sounding extremely upset. "Genevieve..." She started in a snooty voice. By habit, she reached up and played with the collar of her peach coloured pull over. "Your father and I don't want you gallivanting outside with all the... common folk." She spoke.

"You need to begin to socialize with our kind of people." My father said. With every word that he formed, his bushy grey moustache wiggled from side to side. "You can't be sharing your wealth with just anyone."

"I'm not sharing it with everyone, father. I only buy the things I need." I stated. My mother tutted.

"Then why are you pulling out a hundred dollars every time you 'go out'? Hmm?" My father asked.

I rolled my eyes while shifting my weight to my right leg. I shoved my hands into the pockets of my ripped light blue jeans. "They're just gifts for friends." I lied. In reality, I was saving the money for the next time that Ashton and I met up. If I told my parents that it was for him, though, they would kill me. They're already concerned with me hanging out with people with a medicore income; they would flip out if I was giving the money to a homeless kid!

I huffed while pulling a strand of my hair behind my ear. "Didn't you always buy gifts for mom?"

"And that's exactly why she has turned into such a spoiled brat." He grumbled. My mother scoffed. I frowed at the lack of affection between my parents. There was never any spark in their relationship, really. They only married to combine wealths of both families.

My mother rolled her eyes. "What I'm trying to say, is that you are wasting my money! Your father and I have worked very hard for our fortune! All the 'gifts' that you're giving, plus the tea spill in your car is costing a lot! We've decided to take your car away from you until you can afford to clean the mess up yourself."

I rolled my eyes while opening the heavy wooden door to the front of our house. "I really didn't want that car in the first place. I'm still going out." I muttered while shutting the door behind me. With a sigh, I made my way down our long driveway. The warm wind of summer has begun to grow chillier. I rubbed my bare arms, and immediately regretted the choice of wearing only a black tank top with ripped jeans outside.

"Hey!"

I froze in my tracts. Someone called me.

"Hey, you there! Hi!"

The voice sounded as if it came from a man. I began to pick up speed, and listened closely to see if the person would do the same.

They did.

As fast as my legs could carry me, I ran away from the voice. I heard the unknown person pick up speed from behind, signalling that they were running after me. I turned a couple of corners to get away from the person. I jumped over fallen garbage cans, and soon slipped into the shadows of a dark alleyway. Without thinking, I had ran way past the McDonalds that was supposed to meet Ashton at. I mentally cursed myself since I couldn't find my way back there. I was significantly directionally challenged.
