Chapter 44

"I think we should postpone our wedding..."

"What??", Shihyun let's go of his hold and looks at her bewildered. He can't believe what he just heard.

"I...", her word cuts off by the waitress that came bringing a tray of their appetizer. She puts a plate of deviled eggs in front of her. "I need to go to the bathroom...", she stands up and a second later her body fell to the floor.

"Choi Sooji!!!", Shihyun panics. He picks her up and runs to his car.

"Is she okay?", he asks Sooji's mom worriedly. They're in the ER.

"I need to run a few tests...but she's okay for now..."

"But she suddenly asked to postpone our wedding then passed out...is her heart okay??", Shihyun still can't stop feeling worried.

"Her heart is okay...there's nothing bad...it's just...", Sooji's mom looks hesitant. "There's something I need to make sure...I will ask the nurse to move her to the VIP ward..."

"Okay..."

"I'll be there in a few minutes..."

"Thank you...", Shihyun says gratefully. He planned to propose her tonight and somehow it turns to another disaster. He sighs.

Sooji opens her eyes slowly. And the first thing she saw is Shihyun's worried face. "Hi...", she mumbles.

"You're awake...", he sighs in relief.

Sooji nods. Trying to recall what happened. Restaurant. Deviled eggs. Blackout.

"How are you feeling?", he strokes her hair gently.

"Little bit dizzy..."

"You scared me..."

"I am sorry...", she feels really guilty for making Shihyun worried again. "About what I said in the dinner..."

"You're awake...", Sooji's words were cut by her mom entering the room. "Good..."

"So...what happened to her? Is she really okay?", Shihyun asks curiously.

Sooji's mom glances at her. "So...do you want to tell him...or should I?"

Sooji's eyes go wide. How could her mom know that she already knows? "Mom..."

"What is it? What happened?", Shihyun looks at the two women, confused.

"Choi Sooji...", her mom warns her. She knows her daughter tends to hide her problems and bottle it up till everything blew up on her face.

"Okay, Mom...", she grunts. "But can you leave us alone for a second...", she doesn't know why she feels embarrassed with her own mom.

"Okay...call me when you finished being honest..."

Sooji just rolls her eyes.

"What is it??", Shihyun asks impatiently as soon as Sooji's mom left the room.

"I...", oh God, how to say this??? "I am pregnant...", she says quickly and closes her eyes. Afraid of Shihyun reaction. After a minute of silence, Sooji opens her eyes. Wondering why Shihyun hasn't said a word.

Shihyun is staring at her with an unreadable expression.

"Shihyun ah...say something..."

"You're...pregnant...", he mumbles. Not sure if he's asking or just repeating what she said.
