| la vie n'est pas parfaite |

I went to sleep that night, just feeling happy. I know Diamond likes me, which is a relief. If I got friend zoned again, then I might've just died right then and there. But she likes me. I like her. What do I do next? Ask her to be my girlfriend? Ask her out? I don't know and I need to know. I wasn't thinking about Mic last night. But now that he's standing right in front of me, I'm absolutely concerned. Why does he look so normal.

"Where the hxll have you been, Mic?" I ask. He brushes by me into the kitchen. "Mic, I'm serious."
"I know your serious, that's why I'm not answering." He says in a cold deep voice without looking at me. "Seriously? What's wrong with you?" I ask again. Mic ignores me. "Then can I ask what's going on with Maryland?"
Mic shrugs, "How the hxll am I supposed to know?"
Okay, what?

"Did you guys fight or something?"

"No, we did not fight, we argued, and I don't know why your so concerned."
Axx...
"I'm not, Diamond was. I'm more concerned with you--"

He cut me off, "Stop, your not helping things Leo."

"And whats that even supposed to mean? Mic, Just tell me why your acting like this," I say, more like pleading. I just don't wan't my brother to be like this. Yet, life is no where near perfect.

"Okay, Leo.." Mic mumbles pulling something out of his pocket, but I can't exactly see cause now his back is facing me. Then I could hear that sound. flick. Y'know like that.

Shxt.

He turns back around, just as I thought, a cigarette was sticking out of his mouth.
"If it makes you feel better," He starts again putting his stuff back in his pocket. "Our mother is dead." And that's what he finishes with. My eyes move from the cigarette to his eyes. Instead of his regular light blue, his eyes are now dark blue. He's pissed. No probably more than pissed.

And I'm fuxked.

"But of course.." Mic speaks slowly, letting a cloud of smoke slip into the air intoxicating the oxygen, "You already knew that."

______________________

He never told me how he found out, he just dissed the world after Our small conversation a few nights ago. The kid has gone....silently ballistic. And I know that doesn't make any sense. What I mean is, he might be totally depressed but doesn't much show it. Except he doesn't care where he smokes now, inside or out, and definitely not caring what Jamie would think. Well, probably because Jamie practically moved out, only coming here once to come check on us and make sure we have food. I mean a crazy 15 year old, and an irresponsible 17 year old living in a house alone? Things are definitely bound to get out of control soon or later.

But apparently, Katie is due soon, so dad needs to take care of his other family. Although I really think, now that I know, he just doesn't feel like being around us anymore. I can't blame him. I just wish my life was normal, I really do.

Today, when I went home from school, Maryland came with me. I told her not to, cause Mic isn't himself at the moment, but she just said she doesn't care. And since Maryland came, Diamond came as well...cause they seem to not be able to go anywhere without each other. Except during school.

When I opened the door, I prayed Mic wasn't smoking right now, cause that's just not right for his girlfriend to see, even though Maryland knows, and so does Diamond, but Mic would never smoke, in front of Maryland, as what he told me. She is the main reason why he tried to quit. I knew it wouldn't last long.
I stepped in the house with the twins trailing behind me to be greeted with the not so healthy smell, and Mic was just at the counter top scrolling through his phone. He was smoking...I mean great. His attention turned to us looking at me with a plain expression, but then his eyes fall to Maryland, and his face changed from boredom to an 'Oh boy' type of look. I don't know what that meant. He turns back to his phone ignoring Maryland when she said his name.
"Micah," Maryland had to repeat herself. Mic looked back at her but then soon realizes Diamonds presence. His eyes lingered on them back and forth like he was trying to figure out who was who, then rubs his hand over his face, "What are they doing here?"
The question came out for me, but I don't answer just yet. He's trying to cover up the fact that he didn't know which one was girlfriend. Maryland frowns. Instead, I drop my bag to the floor against the wall, waltzing up to him, and push his phone down, "Mic--"

"I asked what she's doing here." He cut me off speaking harshly, now just saying 'she' as in Maryland. "She's your girlfriend," I say, hoping that would mean something. "And what's that supposed to mean?" Mic mumbles, loud and clear, so Mary's pretty much angry right now.

She came up to us, grabbing on Mics arm, pulling his attention towards her. "Mic, take that shxt out of your mouth, We need to talk, now."

He does take out the cigarette, only to let out his cloud of smoke. Then put it back
"Who the hxll are you to start telling me stuff," Mic snaps, pulling his arm aggressively out of her grip. "Woah--" Maryland cut me off, "Axxhole, I'm your girlfriend, and you said you'd listen to me, when I'm right---"

"I'm not listening to you now," He mumbles. And now Maryland looks even more pissed. "Why are you acting like this? We haven't talked in almost two weeks, let me just--" Mic cuts off Maryland again.
"You know why I'm acting like this--"

"I meant, this way. Why are you acting this way, just quit it." Maryland sighs frustrated.

"Maryland, you can't tell me what the fxck to do, alright?" Mic said more calmly, only to make matters worse. Can these guys stop arguing?

"Oh my god, Mic, I just don't wan't you to be this way!" She shouted. He turned away from her, I'm pretty sure, trying to keep his cool. He is so mad right now.

"Well I am," He mumbles again, taking the cigarette from his mouth, and doesn't put it back.

"Then, I'm breaking up with your sorry xss,"

At that, Mic's eyes slightly widen, and he grabs her wrist when she try's walking away. "Hey--"

"We're not breaking up," He said this like, he wasn't brutally holding her wrist. "Let go of me, Micah." She tried to pull her arm away, but fails miserably, due to his tight xss grip. He only responds with a no.

"Dude, chill." I say.
"Hey, let go of my sister--" I cut off Diamond, putting my arm in front of her, as she approached. Then slowly pried off Mic's hand from Maryland's, now slightly red wrist.

"Micah...Right now, I'm your older brother, so listen to me carefully...Calm. the fxck. down" I say as simply as I could. Maryland holds her wrist looking at Mic in disbelief.
"Now please remain sane." I mumble under my breath, but Mic most likely heard. "Girls, go."

"What, Leo--" I cut off Diamond. "It's fine, Every things fine, just go,"
She hesitated, then wrapped her arm around Maryland's shoulders, "Let's go sis,"
Her eyes all of a sudden look glassy, and she stares blankly ahead, but walks with her sister.

"Are you out of your fxcking mind?" I say to Mic, not even waiting 'till the girls exit the house. Only then, Mic speaks. "I think so,"
Okay, now I wan't to punch him. "You can't just hold a girl like that,"
He runs a hand through his curly hair, and bites the right side of his bottom lip. Y'know in a way I'd say girls go crazy over, but I'm pretty sure he's not doing that intentionally, considering the fact that he's clearly pissed. At me, Maryland, himself? "I didn't mean to."He speaks quickly, as he threw his cigarette away. When he turns back, he just stares at me.

Okay, what the hxll.

"Why the heck are you just staring at me?" I say.
He blinks, like he's tryna figure out what's in front of him,"Oh, your face disappeared for a sec."

Okay, is he high? wtf?

"Why'd you do that to Maryland?" I ask, going back to the original topic. "I'm not exactly in the right mind, right now, Leo." Mic mumbles.

I mean, no shxt.
