On Friday, I went into work to have a meeting with my boss, and unfortunately he had to let me go. I met up with Bailey outside on her break to tell her the news.

"Hey Simon, where've you been?" She asked.
"I sorta went through a break up." I shyly said. "But everything's cool now."
"Damn, I'm sorry to here that. Stanley was looking for you all over the place. Did he let you go?"
"Yeah...I should've told him ahead of time," I scratched my head, "Things just came up so fast."
"I could try talking him into letting you back in. You're a pretty good worker—the lunch hours are less hectic when you're here."

"Well..." I chuckled. "He was pretty stern about me not giving him a notice."
"That doesn't mean you have to give up." She smiled, "Don't worry, I'll talk to him."
"Thanks Bailey. I'll see you around." I waved.

I headed towards the grocery store to grab some things for dinner. I didn't realize I was completely out of food until Alice and Eli showed up that day.
"I feel like having something meaty..." I thought aloud, "Maybe a steak or a roast."

I walked down the seasoning isle and stopped at the ones for beef. I paused to think and reached out and touch a hand. I pulled back and saw a guy standing next to me.
"I'm sorry!" I immediately apologized. He studied me, as if he'd seen me before.
"Do you know Dexter Sun?" He asked.
"Oh, yeah! He's...a friend of mine."
He snapped his fingers a few time, "Simon right?"

I nodded.
"Oh ok—I'm Matt." He greeted me with a warm smile, "He told me to say hey to you if we ever met up."
"Oh, well nice to meet you." I gave a shy smile. He stared into my eyes and nodded his head.
"Well, I'll catch up with you later." He walked off.
"Yeah, sure!"
That was weird...

When I got home, I put my groceries away and threw myself on the couch. I felt Benjamin jump on my chest and I choked.
"Warn me next time Ben..." I groaned. I suddenly got a text from Dexter and I immediately smiled:

I grinned at my phone, feeling butterflies in my stomach. I felt like a little school girl—but I didn't care. Then I remembered something.

Me: Btw I meet your friend Matt

Me: He seems ok

Him: Lol 'ok'

Him: He's pretty cool tho. He plays saxophone for the school band.

Benjamin stepped up to my face and bunted my chin.
"What, Ben?" I laughed. "Am I ignoring you?"
He laid back down and purred as I scratched his chin.

I felt like today was a good day—only because I got more food, and possibly my job back. I just hoped for nothing bad to happen in the future.
