"Levi?"

I asked as a familiar shadow of broad shoulders caught my eyes. I woke up in the middle of the night as the humidity is warming up these days. I was feeling thirsty, so I decided to go to the kitchen and get some cold water.

"Ohh gosh, you startled me." I said trying not to freak out.

Levi, who seems to be half awake, is sitting in front of the fridge door. The light from the opened fridge is the only thing that's lighting up the room, I saw his hands covering his ears as if trying to shut his self from voices he doesn't want to hear.

"What are you doing there?" I asked as I slowly walked towards Levi.

Without any response, Levi just sits there quietly in front of the opened door fridge.

"Are you that hungry?" I asked once more. "Levi.." I called out his name tapping his shoulder.

"Ohhh?, ohh my!" Levi suddenly freaked out as soon as I tap his arms. As if he was snapped out from a dream. Losing his balanced, his butt fell on the ground.

"Ohhww, you freaked me out Mamita!" Levi retorted, punching his chest while awkwardly sitting on the floor.

"You're the one freaking me out!" I reacted back. "What are doing sitting in front of the fridge? You even kept it open,"

I continued, "are you that hungry? You seemed like a zombie digging some brain!"

"Do I?" with a confused look in his eyes, he asked.

I paused for a moment; Levi looked troubled. The look upon his face reminded me of the first few days I've met him, when fear and innocence covered his young heart.

With a sigh, I reached out to him and hugged him. "You haven't grown even a bit." I teased him as I tucked him in.

"What are you --"

"It is okay," I said instead cutting him off. "Did you have that dream again?", I asked.

"Uhh-uhm, I guess. I did." Levi answered in a fading tone.

He didn't say anything more, I just heard him breathed deeply.

Tapping his shoulders gently, I slowly let him go with a chuckle, "Better get me a cold water because I'm surprised more than you are."

"Fine, fine whatever." Levi pretentiously obliged. He stood up to his feet and switched on the light to brighten the whole kitchen. He then took a glass from the cupboard and walked back to the fridge to get a pitcher of cold water.

I stood up as well and sat on the center table. Looking silently at Levi, I'm certain that something is troubling him.

"What's with that awful look?" He asked while laughing. Handing a glass of water, he sat down in front of me.

I took the glass of water and drank it in one go, "Ahh, that is refreshing." Finishing the water, I stand on my feet. I glanced at the clock, its 4:26 in the morning. Looking back at Levi, I said "Go back to bed my child, you should rest."

Levi stayed motionless for few seconds as if contemplating. I tap his shoulders once more, "Go." I told him smiling reassuringly. With that I turned and proceeded back to my room.

Levi is a strong person with such a fragile heart, but I know he'll be okay.

As I walk into my room, I passed across frames that was hung on my bedroom wall. There are a lot of them, photos of the children in the orphanage, the staffs & volunteers. I smiled as I look at those. Seeing all the faces in the frame, my life has not been futile after all.
