Nishikita knew what he had to do. He started to run after Takagi-San, deciding that he was finally going to get to the bottom of the reason that she had been ignoring him for. Akari-San saw him running off and felt sad and understanding at the same time. She understood that Takagi-San was one of Nishikita's closest friends, and she felt bad for purposely destroying their friendship.
As Takagi-San ran, she could hear footsteps close behind her. Due to her lack of fitness compared to her assailant, she finally gave up and turned around to see who had been following her, knowing who it likely was to be. Her predictions were proven correct when she saw Nishikita, face red and breathing heavily, stop in front of her.
'T-takagi-San, you need to explain yourself. Why have you been ignoring me?' Nishikita said between breaths.
Takagi-San couldn't believe that he had really asked her that. Had he completely forgotten about how he had lied to her or was he just conveniently glossing over that fact.
'Y-you l-lied to me!' Takagi-San exclaimed between sobs. 'You had been dating Akari-San the entire time'
Nishikita couldn't believe that was what Takagi-San was angry about but when he thought about it, dating Akari-San wasn't something he would be opposed to. When he looked at their friendship objectively, it was easy to understand why an outsider might think that they were dating. Nishikita then said something that haunt him for the next few months of his life.
'So what, why does it affect you if I am dating her?' he asked, tone raised.
Takagi-San visibly shrunk back, starting to get afraid that he might freak out at her again. She had hoped that Nishikita would have told her that they weren't dating, so his actual answer didn't process for a few seconds. When it did finally reach her consciousness, all she could do was break down and cry even harder than she had before.
This confused Nishikita so much that he didn't know what to do. His consciousness thought that he should maybe try and comfort her, but for reasons he didn't know, his flight response kicked in and he started to run away, leaving Takagi-San sobbing her eyes out in a random hallway in their school. In that moment, Nishikita was glad that the next two days were weekend.
*TIME SKIP*
When he finally arrived home, Nishikita rushed upstairs to his room and started to cry his eyes out. Finally, when he had cried all of his tears, he started to get to work in fixing the mess he had gotten into.
Takagi-San was a mess. Her mother had no idea why she was crying so much as Takagi-San refused to give an explanation. Takagi-San thought that she could keep up the facade of ignoring Nishikita, but every time she saw him, it cracked a little bit more until she eventually gave in and decided to get him a chocolate for valentines. However, when she saw Akari-San kissing Nishikita, she just broke down and ran.
She decided that it was time to stop being passive, so she started to plan how to make herself irresistible to her Nishikita.
