Mr Otis was awakened by a curious noise in the corridor. It sounded like the clank of metal and seemed to be coming nearer. He did not feel frightened . He got up, struck a match and looked up. It was now 1 o' clock. He could now hear the sound of footsteps.
Taking a bottle of lubricant, he opened the door and saw an old man with red eyes, long grey hair, matted coils, garments soiled and torn, from his wrists hung heavy ringed chains and shackles in legs.
Leaving a bottle of lubricant for the ghost, he retired to rest. The ghost was puzzled and fled down the corridor uttering groans. He was further attacked by the Otis twins who threw a pillow at his head.
