Kai walks down the hallway on Monday morning with a chipper smile on his face. Over the weekend, the mess from the riot was cleaned up and Kai has seen nothing but smiles all day so far. Even though the chaos from Friday was incredibly dangerous and scary, no one got so severely hurt and no one died. A few of Israel's older friends were arrested for damaging cars but that was just about how serious things got.
"Hello riot starter." Rhyannon greets Kai at his locker, Cambridge by his side. "You do know that's what people are calling you, right?"
"I don't care." Kai shrugs. 'Riot Starter' was trending on Twitter all weekend but nothing negative was being said about him. He really wasn't the true cause of the riot, Israel was. HE'S the one that brought those older guys with the bats and gun. "None of that is even true."
"Did you forget that you're the one that held the protest?" Cambridge chuckles.
"No." Kai shoves his notebook into his messenger bag. "But Israel is the one who brought back up."
"Yeah, who were those guys?" Cambridge asks Rhyannon.
"Guys Izzy and I would hang out with when we were in junior high." Rhyannon rolls his eyes. "They've always been bad influences.
"Barely anyone is talking about the riot anymore." Kai shuts his locker door. "That happened days ago. Can't we all just be happy that the negativity is out?"
"Kai Evans?" A taller guy with black short hair on both sides of his head approaches the guys. He's wearing a navy blue tie and his belly hangs over the waistband of his dress pants.
"That's me." Kai clips his bag closed. "Uh, who are you?"
"I'm Mr. Miller, the new principal." He informs, his face reminding Kai of a pig.
"Mrs. Brown got fired?" Rhyannon asks in surprise.
"She sure did." Mr. Miller nods his head and then focuses his attention back on Kai. "Can you come with me to my office please?'
"Sure." Kai waves goodbye to his friends before following the new principal down the hallway and into the office that used to be Mrs. Brown's. The plaque that Brown had hanging on the wall is gone and the pictures of her and her kids are wiped off the desk. The office is mostly empty with the few exceptions of small nick knacks on either side of the computer.
"So you're the one that held the protest on Friday?" Mr. Miller takes his new seat behind the desk that was once Mrs. Brown's.
"Yes." Kai answers, why that has anything to do with... anything. "Why does that matter, exactly?"
"Well you created havoc, a wild panic." Mr. Miller folds his pudgy hands on the top of his desk. "You put fear into just about the entire student body."
"That wasn't my intention." Kai says honestly. All he wanted for that protest was to get his way and he did- even with the help of Israel's friends. The whole thing wasn't his fault entirely but he's not about to throw Rhyannon's brother under the bus.
"But that doesn't mean it didn't happen." Mr. Miller points out before handing him a dark blue sheet of paper that makes it hard to read the black words typed up onto it. "I have no choice but to suspend you for two weeks."
Kai's eyebrows pull together in confusion. How can he be suspended over this? Sure he brought the protest to the school but no one got killed during it. Maybe this dumb school shouldn't have hired someone as stupid as Mrs. Brown to be principal or a rapist as ruthless as DeVitis. "Are you even allowed to suspend me? You weren't even here when this all happened."
"But I run this school now." Mr. Miller slides the paper across the desk. "Have this sheet signed by your teachers. Your suspension starts today."

Meanwhile, Brooklyn clicks on the next episode of Skins, using her mouse pad to her lap top as she lays in her hospital bed. She has been here all weekend recovering from her many injuries from the riot. After loosing her cane in the madness, Brooklyn couldn't get up. She just had to lay there and get stomped on and trampled over again and again before the people finally started clearing out of the space she was trapped in. There was swelling in her eye from a kick to the face, three of her fingers are fractured, she has a large gash in her leg, and big purple bruises all over her body. She was rushed to the hospital when the paramedics arrive and has been here ever since. It's not too bad. All she does is binge watch Netflix and occasionally chats to the girl in the room next to her.
"Good, you're up." Mikael, Brooklyn's brother who's now a senior at Seaview, comes into the room with two cups of coffee in his hands. He has been her number one visitor other than her parents while they're off at work. "I brought you that gross frap from that cafe you're always gushing about."
"It's not gross." Brooklyn whines as she takes the paper cup from her brother and quickly takes a drink from it.
"I might as well fill you in on what's happening at the school." Mikael sits in the cushioned chair next to the bed and props his feet up on her legs. "We have a new principal."
"Good." Brooklyn says into her coffee cop. After hearing how big of a bitch Mrs. Brown was to Kai Evans, Brooklyn would've laid her ass out when she came back to school.
"Agreed." Mikael thinks. "You might have competition in that Tatiana girl."
"What do you mean?" Brooklyn asks. She doesn't know too much about Tatiana. All she's aware of is that Anna and her have spending a lot of time together due to drama class but Brooklyn never sat down and had a conversation with her.
"She and Anna seem to be getting fairly close." Mikael shrugs and sips his own coffee as he leans back in his chair.
"I'm not worried." Brooklyn says honestly. She and Anna have been friends for years and Anna isn't the type of friend to ditch her for someone else. Although, Anna has only visited her once in the hospital but that's only because she's been recovering herself from the riot, right?
"If you say so." Mikael slurps his drink before continuing to catch her up on the drama at school.
Brooklyn blocks out her brother's accusation about Anna and succeeds in doing it. Tatiana isn't a threat and no one has anything to worry about.
